A local sporting goods store said gun sales have jumped exceptionally since President Barack Obama was elected and have not slowed since.

Sporting Goods Discounters in Cambria County is advertising that it wants to buy used guns because workers said they can't keep them in stock.

All types of firearms from small handguns to shotguns are selling quickly, and workers attribute that to a new administration.

Workers said gun owners look at Obama's past voting history on guns and fear he will place higher taxes or even place a ban on guns.

Of course there’s no sign of slowing. People are expecting the barrels to melt from use first.

Cambria County is John Murtha territory.

I wonder how many of these guys actually voted for Obama?

Hmm...yes, but I have noticed a slowing in the “gun sales rising due to hysteria, paranoia, and fear” stories after Eric Holder opened his yap.

I mentioned in another post that a couple stocks that are performing pretty well are RGR and SWHC (Ruger and Smith Wesson.)

The guns are one thing - don’t forget the ammo which has gotten really hard to get. I place orders on a weekly basis for what I need. Some sites say “out of stock, no backorder” or “out of stock, backorder ok.” I’ve got a few orders on backorder and they show up eventually.

Not too long ago a representative from Gander Mountain said on morning TV that profits were near record levels. I wonder how Cabela’s and other types are doing.

I got a couple thousand rounds of 7.62x39 when Obama clinched the nomination. Sportsman’s Guide doesn’t even list Wolf 7.62x39 anymore, they only have Golden Bear and that’s $150 for 500 rounds....ouch!

Might as well stock up on 30 round mags while I still can.

We’ve had a hard time getting ammo too. But there aren’t a lot of ammo companies that are publicly traded.

That comment will lead to a excessive profits tax just like oil.

If our society really, really goes into the tank, people should consider a back up weapon if the modern ammo one needs is gone. I have a reproduction Remington 1858 revolver and a repro Zuave with reproduction Minie bullets and plenty of black powder and Pyrodex. I do need to get some caps.

That’s about the going rate and Golden Bear is a little bit better ammo than Wolf. Just make sure they have it in stock and not a 3-4 mo. back order.

I cleaned my local Walmart out of ammo.

I got the last 2 PMAG 30rd magazines from "Cheaper than Dirt." Hopefully they'll be getting more in soon. They're harder to find than hen's teeth!
