Michael Steele has just dipped his toe into the water and is already in over his head.

Steele has been the chairman of the Republican National Committee for only about a month, and already there is speculation that he may be on his way out.

I don’t think it matters who is head of the RNC. The pubbies do what the pubbies do, allow the dems to frame the issues. They did it with Bush. They are doing it with Steele.

We are way past ‘bipartisanship.’ We need more than one person on the Hill who is not afraid to call a spade a spade & speak truth to power.

I think Steele is doing OK. He'll improve his interviewing skills as he seasons.

There is only one reason why he was “elected” and we all know what that is. Sometimes republicans do the dumbest things. And lately it’s happening a lot.

What the party needs to do is reach out to “conservatives” instead of “minorities”.

Anyone can screw up when you get on TV.

He didn't screw up. He is merely reflecting the prevailing attitude of the republican party.

I will never again vote for a liberal republican like I have done starting in 2000.

The problem with the GOP is a micro-version of the government at large. They believe their “platform” derives top-down from a few politically connected individuals who have “played the game” over the years rather than that messy abstraction called a “constituency” with shared values. And the more disconnected they become, the more their support will erode.

If Rush was indeed a ‘country-club Republican’ the other members would kidnap him, place him in ball and chain and throw him into the nearest river to sink to Davy Jones’ locker.

The ‘country-club Republicans’ literally hate Rush.

"Remember why Steele was picked. RNC memebers had reservations about Ken Blackwell’s competence after losing by 30 points against Ted Strickland.

I was one of those guys. Blackwell's bona fides as a conservative are without question. But, I wasn't convinced then, nor am I now that he had the communication skill set to be an effective advocate for the GOP.

I didn't in my wildest dreams, imagine Steele would go off the reservation so quickly, so completely and so miserably. Suffice to say, it is a very weak bench in the GOP leadership team.

I seriously believe that Ken Blackwell should have been RNC chair. There was no question the man is conservative but the power behind the scenes picked their rino.We have what we have and it sucks. He needs to resign and now.

Took me a while to figure that out too.
I quit doing that in 2006.
It feels weird at first but after a while you start to see things very clearly.

Welcome to your first step away from the Kool-Aid.

“And Republicans don’t even come in second. More Americans identify themselves as independent than as Republican.”
* * *

Is that accurate?

That one line may be the giveaway that the MSM’s deepening of the divide is more of a strategy than reporting.

"Wifey named Muffin or Dodie?"

Muffy. Two kids, Chet and Byrdie - after her grandmother.

Some of us can multitask. Who are you, the distracter?

Laura Ingraham was just on Bill O’Reilly and just said the same thing re
people need to focus on what Obama is doing to our country
