Weird rumble in Oklahoma
Posted by David Pescovitz, January 23, 2009 11:04 AM | permalink
Folks in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma are disturbed by an intense blasting sound and window-shaking tremors that apparently have been occurring at noon every day this week. Hundreds of people have called the sheriff’s office to complain. The source of the rumble remains a mystery. From KHBS:
Ron Lockhart, the Sequoyah County Sheriff, said the department has checked with every mining company in the county but none have reported any blasting....
The U.S. Geological Survey has reported activity in Sequoyah County but does not believe it to be seismic.

Stock market dropped so fast it broke the sound barrier. Word has it that a million 401K’s shattered. The pilot, a guy named Obama, whose callsign is ‘Jesus’, requested a flyby of Broad and Wall in NYC.
Airboss wanted to mast him, but the Admiral said he didn’t want to take the affirmative action heat.

I felt the two sonic booms all the way down in Southern Cal. My house rattled both times. It felt like someone slamming a huge weighted door. (My first thought was a North Korean missile...horrible you have to consider those things...what times we're living in.)
No mention on the news in my area. Weird.

Could it have been the Orange County Sheriff going ballistic again over the concealed carry permits in “her” county?

Just a guess: F-22 Raptor? I would think that they’d be ‘squawking’ or be carrying a nice fat radar reflector while on a training mission, but perhaps not if they were over water.

Yep heard it and felt it. See explanation below.
Those earthquakes? Quite possibly sonic booms from a long-suspected hypersonic attack vehicle, a sleek aircraft that has consumed the imaginations of black-project enthusiasts and military analysts, including me, for two decades. Though seemingly dormant in recent years, the program appears to be on the move again, and with a renewed vigor that has me feeling, somewhat unsettlingly, a bit like the aerospace industry´s own Ahab.
