My Beef With Ann Coulter
Daily Beast ^ | Megan McCain

Posted on 03/09/2009 11:41:50 AM PDT by pissant

It is no secret that being a Republican isn’t the most hip political stance a person can take right now. President Obama has successfully established himself as the hippest politician around. You know you’re big when Katy Perry wears a dress with your face on it to host the MTV Europe Music Awards. To my fellow Republicans: I’m sorry, I wish I could be more positive about the current “hipness” of our party. But being a Republican is about as edgy as Donny Osmond. Granted, being “hip” is not a reason to join a political party, or a reason to agree with its ideals. But it is a way to get the attention of a generation—or, more specifically, my generation.

To make matters worse, certain individuals continue to perpetuate negative stereotypes about Republicans. Especially Republican women. Who do I feel is the biggest culprit? Ann Coulter. I straight up don’t understand this woman or her popularity. I find her offensive, radical, insulting, and confusing all at the same time. But no matter how much you or I disagree with her, the cult that follows Coulter cannot be denied. She is a New York Times best-selling author and one of the most notable female members of the Republican Party. She was one of the headliners at the recent CPAC conference (but when your competition is a teenager who has a dream about the Republican Party and Stephen Baldwin, it’s not really saying that much).

Meghan is a moron and she knows it. My Mom saw an interview with her during the campaign and the first thing she said was “McCain’s daughter talks like an idiot.” No shock that she would spew this crap, she voted for John Kerry of all people. She never has anything nice to say about Sarah Palin, yeah the woman that busted her ass for her old man while he sat back and did nothing. Now she disses Ann Coulter..Hey Meghan, you sure talk a lot, how about saying it to her face!!

"I straight up don’t understand this woman or her popularity."

You're as clueless as your father Megan. Please go away, and take your old man with you.

That is why we have an egotistical, racist airhead in the White House - because people thought it was hip to vote for Obama because of his skin color.

Yep, most 0bama voters voted that way so that they could "be part of history" and "vote for the cool black guy" and didn't give a thought to, or denied, the fact that he is a communist.

The rest voted for him BECAUSE he was a communist.

I happen to like Ann Coulter, she’s a lightning rod for Democratic angst.

I happen to dislike her -- her penchant for self-promotion and going for shock value wore thin for me a long time ago. Too much "Ann" and too little meat. Ann hasn't been 25 for over 20 years....when you're that old, the "blonde" thing is no excuse for lack of depth.

Coulter could be the poster woman for the most extreme side of the Republican Party. And in some ways I could be the poster woman for the opposite. I consider myself a progressive Republican

What is a "progressive republican?" One that embraces government spending, government regulation, government control of every aspect of the serfs' lives. In short nothing but a liberal democrat by another name. Sorry toots. I'll take Coulter over your moronic stance any day even if she doesn't have a clue about what goes on the Cornell Ag School. She can be forgiven for that since the A&S types have to tell themselves that they're superior otherwise they have to face the fact that their daddy's are paying a whole hell of a lot more for an education than they should.

[But it is a way to get the attention of a generation—or, more specifically, my generation.]

Your generation is about to learn a very, very tough lesson. I’m sure they will have an attitude adjustment soon when are forced to worry about putting food on the table rather than what or who is currently considered “hip.”

Hipness doesn't do squat for fixing the financial system or dealing with national security threats, you twit.

“I find her offensive, radical, insulting, and confusing all at the same time.”

She is only offensive to liberals.
If she is radical, then so am I.
She insults the left who so often deserve it.
You sound confused.

“hip” the very idea of a political stance being “hip” is revulsive, and pathetic. these are life & death matters. do... you... see?

The question is: do you?

You and I may both hate it, but the fact is that "hipness" is politically vitally important these days.

“I used to think more of her until I found out she had a penchant for liberal men.”

Then why did she say she would never date a liberal man?

I never did see this original show with Bob Denver, they didn’t syndicate it during the years I grew up. I agree with everyone here on this, who gives a rat’s a** what or who is hip? Being hip is basically being arrogant and looking down your nose at everybody who shops at Walmart.

Speaking of Bob Denver: who would you rather be on a desert island with, someone who’s hip or someone who is competent?

On the assumption that this lady is McLame’s wife, I can understand why she’s upset with a lady who tells it like it is. Ann is a God-send, and is so funny with the jacka$$es she confronts.

I was hoping George W would have nominated her to the Supreme Court just so she’d have a chance to tell off the murderer, theifs, and liars on that committee. God bless Ann Coulter, and I hope she’s around for a long, long time.
