In recent years, the Hispanic day laborers have become as much a part of the scenery at The Home Depot west of Lake Worth as the fence and hedges, and as more lose full-time jobs in construction or landscaping, their numbers seem to have grown.
The Home Depot is not pleased. Blaming the job seekers for causing accidents and driving away customers, the world's largest home improvement retailer has been working to discourage them from rushing vehicles in the driveways and trespassing in the parking lot. But the need for work keeps pushing the men forward, and the result has been an entrenched standoff.
Garcia, an undocumented Guatemalan national who had a regular job in construction until being laid off late last year, said he and the others only want to work and have no other way to find steady pay.
"We're not here because we want to be here," he said in Spanish. "We need to be."

Why are they all at HD and not at Lowes? What’s Lowes doing differently?
The cities that “required” care for illegals built their own shelters with taxpayer money that included beds, showers, etc. in many places- mostly to get them out of sight out of mind so people wouldn’t know the truth of the issues where illegals gather- trash, drinking, drug abuse-assults, etc. Home Depot encouraged illegals to hang out for jobs and I am not aware that it was ever required of HD to build the shades and provide water. This all came out to the public when the illegals took to the streets in protest and caused a backlash against themselves when many saw the truth for the first time. Many protested to Home Depot for allowing them to hang out and giving them shelter and water and now that the economy is not as good the illegals are a problem with their shoppers. I don’t see HD as being innocent in all this.
Lowes and Home Depot make it very clear Spanish-friendly is an objective of theirs. Signs throughout their stores are bilingual
When I complained to a local bank about listening to their telephone Spanish option, I was told there are many Spanish speaking people who use affiliated banks. Surmising drug cartel money is a high priority for funds.
This is a mess here in Southern Callyfornia.

The bank made good, but nothing was ever done to hold Home Depot to account. Something is going on with them people.
