A disease that can be eliminated by changing one’s behaviour...and zero cost for drugs, health care, etc.

You know, God clearly told people how to avoid being stupid. And if people decide to be stupid, they make the decision to be stupid and they should be on their own.

Uh, that kind of thinking is now outlawed in Obama Nation. If you are stupid and buy more house than you can ever afford, responsible people will bail you out. If you are stupid and have high-risk sex, responsible people are at fault...well, just because. Making people suffer the consequences of their actions is just so...mean and right-wing, dude.

Do I really need a sarcasm tag?

There’s a huge problem with transmission statistics because it relies on self-reporting of behaviors. An awful lot of people will never admit to homosexual contact and drug use.

If men and women kept their legs and butts closed, HIV would be gone. The ones who contract it through sharing needles will die off eventually.

Problem solved.

Do some DC African-Americans live by the Muslim rule that males are for pleasure and females are for babies?

I wonder if Barney Frank is among the 3 percent.

Are you kidding? His staff probably makes up a tenth of the total.

You may be right, but do we really know, are we being told the truth, (I know, i know truth HA) about what causes AIDS? It is an auto immune disease, so what if it can be caused by the repetitive infections that homosexuals cause themselves, wearing down the immune system, until it cannot repair itself? Just asking, as it would seem to make sense to me.

Exactly. Of course, then there would be no need for abortion either, as those who support it strongly, promote the notion one cannot keep their legs closed. People, they apparently think, are controlled by their urges, not the other way around!

Men who have sex with men in secret, and go home to their wives and girlfriends. Live a heterosexual life for all appearance sake.

The only ones in control of it are those who have gay sex.

Actually, you need to add drug use to that, and then you are exactly right.

Whenever people start talking about not covering obese people because that is a "lifestyle" disease; i.e., people choose to behave in a way that makes them obese, I get angry. It is politically incorrect to be fat, but gay is the highest rung of the P.C. ladder so these people get a pass on their behavior.

Well, are these people also willing to stop providing health care to AIDs patients, 'cause those "drug cocktails" that they have to take to keep them alive are very expensive and they "choose" to participate in activities (gay sex or drug use) that open them up to this disease.

Ugh, that is so disgusting, but pretty rampant. Long story, made short.... I was on Craigs list looking for an apartment a few years ago. I decided to check out the entire site. I noticed they had personals and saw male for male, or whatever they call it.

I was curious as to how gay men posted. Do they say “I'm a girl looking for a guy”, etc. I decided to look. What an education I received. There is so much I can post about what I learned (really really gross stuff).

But one of the things that got my blood boiling was how many men, who were either married or had girlfriends, who were looking for gay sex!!!

It was unbelievable!!! All I could think about was those poor women, especially the married ones.

I must say, that education I received changed me, for the better.

If they can jack up the price of the cigars I smoke once in a while with the whole second-hand smoke BS and the S-CHIP health care scam—(prices have just gone up 50 cents per cigar in the past week or so) They can tack on a $20 cover charge on gay bars and $50 or $100 daily charge on those bathhouse places to pay for AIDS research, right?

I mean they demonize smokers—and I can at least understand someone sticking a cigarette in their mouth....

Get a grip, folks.

This report comes from an incompetently run local Washington DC government agency.

They are looking to increase their budget.

Pure and simple, they are looking to increase their budget!

This same group claimed that 5% (!!) of DC residents had HIV/AIDS in November 2007.

Click on the 2007 link:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/11/25/AR2007112501677_pf.html

Now, in 2009, they claim 3% of DC residents have HIV/AIDS.

Apparently the The Washington Post, which wrote both stories, can't do math.

Dropping 5% to 3% is a 40% DECREASE in the number of HIV/AIDS residents, in two years!

How did they get the 5% infection rate in 2007?

Who knows, it's a “projection” from unknown sources.

How did they get the 3% infection rate in 2009?

This way:

They surveyed 750 high risk residents in six of Washington DC’s most high risk neighborhoods.

This is not science.

This is political dog poop from people who want a bigger slice of Obama’s budget.

>>A woman can get aids through herto sex with an infected man (but not the other way around), or a needle. But not from homo sex with another woman.

Sort of. Ordinary unprotected sex is highly unlikely to infect a healthy woman (take 500-1000 instances for her to likely be infected, according to studies). The reality in this study is that these women CLAIM to have been infected heterosexually. Most probably, they were infected by sharing needles, or by receiving unprotected anal sex with men who share needles.

>>A man gets it through homo sex or a needle. Not through hetro sec with a women.

Unless the man has genital sores, like is common in Africa.

I would suspect bisexuals, who are extremely promiscuous, carry the virus back and forth among the usual identified groups.

That is probably overstated. It is almost impossible (1 in 500 odds) to infect a healthy woman with unprotected vaginal sex. And even if you did, she has no way to transmit it aside from needle sharing.

“Back and forth” applies only where genital sores are widespread, like in Africa.

The “I got it from my boyfriend” tale may sometimes be true, but 99% odds that it was because she either received unprotected anal sex or shared needles with her boyfriend.
