"Spiritual, territorial ravaging of Serbia"

BELGRADE -- Opposition DSS leader Vojislav Koštunica has warned that Serbia is undergoing spiritual and territorial ravaging.

Koštunica speaks in Belgrade on Saturday (Beta)

"It is simply unbearable, the ease with which today everyone feels entitled to disparage the holy values that the Serb nation respects," said the former prime minister, addressing his party's youth forum in Belgrade on Saturday.

"The most venom is directed against those values and ideals. According to this cruel logic, not only must Serbia be reduced territorially, but the Serbs cannot be what they are."

Parliament is the right place for talks about Serbia's future since it has gathered all the ideas, he continued: a fight for a better Serbia and conviction that the state-making policies of the DSS are a guarantee for a safe and better future for the country.

Koštunica reminded that it is Serbia that has no alternative, and that it therefore must be confident and strong for others to respect her.

You know, the best thing about “Free Republic” (other than the fact that the administrators actually allow Serbs to excercise “freedom of speech”) is that this place is full of postings that educate the people on what’s actually happening out there to the people.

What’s next? Rewritting the Bible so that there is no reference to “He” for God, and instead, “He” is referred to as “It”?

Why, why, why, why are we allowing all this to happen? The Left has hijacked the universe.

I have always favored the Serbs over the Croates because of the actions of the Ustashi Knives at the end of WWII.

Multiplied thousands of Serbs were butchered along the lines of throat slitting contests as the Germans converged from the north and the Croates from the south trapping them.

Rewritting the Bible so that there is no reference to “He” for God

Already happened. The Oxford Press has come out with a "gender-neutral" version of the Bible.

...because of the actions of the Ustashi Knives at the end of WWII.

It wasn't just "at the end of WWII". It was from April 10, 1941 on. April 10th was the day Croatia declared itself the NDH, "The Independent State of Croatia". The NDH included the territory of Bosnia at that time as well.

The Croats declared themselves "independent" of Yugoslavia after the Nazis marched into Croatia not as conquerors and occupiers like they did in Serbia, but as welcome Allies and heroes.

Instead of resisting the Nazis, Croatia welcomed them ecstatically, with open arms. Pavelich's "Ustashe" and others now had the green light to purge Croatia of Serbs and other "non-Catholics". They proceeded to do so in ways that not even the Nazis could stomach.

Also, no one seems to want to mention the concentration camps run by Albanians, Croats, and Slovenes where hundreds of thousands of Serbs, Gypsies, Jews, Greeks, and Turks were killed. The members of the Islamic division of the S.S. were particularly brutal. They were cowards in battle, but enjoyed bashing in the skulls of Serbian babies and ripping pregnant women's bellies open.

I was never so disgusted with our government as during the unprovoked attack on a people who often risked their lives to save American airmen during W.W. II. If captured by the Ustachi, they were immediately killed. But no good work goes unpunished, esp. under the Clintons.

The only thing the denizens of places like Oxford fear is to be accused of being intolerant, according to the post-modern, “multi-cultural” notion, or to have even a hint of pride in Western Civ. and for that to be found out by one’s elitist peers.

Attila, you are wrong about that. That subject has been mentioned a number of times here on FR. But the concentration camps in "The Independent State of Croatia" weren't the only locations where war crimes were taking place.

Avro Manhattan, author and historian, wrote in the 1980s:

...The Italian Fascist authorities were so shocked by such incredible cruelty that, in addition to dispatching their troops to protect the surviving [Serbian]population and occupying the region of Lijevno and neighboring places, they dispersed the [Croatian] Ustashi and sent a protest to Zagreb.

Ustashi were committing no less abominable atrocities in other parts of the country. In the town of Prijedor, for instance, during the night of July 31-August 1, 1941, they massacred 1,400 men, women, and children, leaving their corpses to rot in the houses and in the streets. The Nazis nearby, horrified at such wholesale butchery, entered the town, compelling the Ustashi to leave. The Nazis had records of massacres of their own second to none. Yet the horrors committed by Pavelich's Ustashi troops proved to be of such bestiality as to shock even them; a most crushing evidence that the Ustashi massacres had surpassed anything experienced even by the Germany of Hitler. The magnitude of the butchery can best be gauged by the fact that within the first three months, from April to June of 1941, 120,000 people perished thus. Proportionately to its duration and the smallness of the territory, it had been the greatest massacre to take place anywhere in the West prior to, during, or after that greatest of cataclysms, the Second World War.

If anyone ever wants to research the true nature of Barbarism, they just need to look at the former Yugoslavia during the World War II period.

Quote from a Belgrade author friend of mine who was a public enemy of Milosevic"

"What the communists weren't able to accomplish against the Serbs in 50 years of communist Yugoslavia, the sons of communists (Tadic & others) have effectively delivered in the name of democratic reforms."

So how did we end up on the side of the Croates?

Great question, northislander.

One "easy" analysis/answer is that Serbs have never believed in the whole "PR" thing. They realized their mistake too late. They thought that with God and "Truth" on their side, they would prevail, no matter what.

The Croats, and Bosnian Muslims, and Albanians and "Kosovars" DID believe in the whole "PR" thing and paid handsomely to make "PR" work to their maximum advantage. This is all on record. Think of those entities as another "Lobby".

And when you need to make the world believe in your lies, you do have to pay dollars for that and to be really aggressive in getting your point across. They certainly have been successful.

Ha! Spin, spin spin is your motto. But I agree, it's hard to 'PR' away concentration camps and massacring 8000 civilians over 3 days in the middle of Europe. Go ahead, tell us how they are in free vacation camps courtesy of good Serbs and that the Sebrenica Muslims killed themselves to setup the Serbs.

God will determine later if was on your side or not. As for the truth, it's out!
