Yes I lover our happy warriors who fight with rhetoric rather than the unglamorous work of mail campaigns and calling their congressman or working in a campaign to elect pro gun politician. The failure to work the halls of the state house to protect our rights.
I have been amazed and awed at the amount of volunteer work that VCDL does when VA is in session. Every day they are at the state house lobbying for our rights. They have been very effective.
But most people do not have the luxury to spend that time and money when they have to work to provide a house and living.
So the best many can do is to pay attention to what is happening and when urged to call and write our representatives.

I think you have your answer. (I had it a couple of decades ago, when I did a little work in the offices of the Second Amendment Foundation.) Americans, even FReepers, do not believe they are losing their rights and aren't even willing to stand up when others around them are losing theirs.
So long as thay have their guns, boats and cars to play with they're heppy and well-satisfied. And when it comes to giving up their guns they'll grumble, but one by lonely one, they'll hand them over. And go on playing with their boatd and cars.
They paid nothing for their rights and so their rights have no value to them. They're perfectly ready to give them up (and absolutely happy to give up others' rights) for a little security, or at least to be left alone for a little longer.
They deserve nothing.
