It matches right up with Alinksy rule # 3:

RULE 3: "Whenever possible, go outside the expertise of the enemy." Look for ways to increase insecurity, anxiety and uncertainty.

I remember when the API stuff first started, someone pointed out that there was a comment in Rules for Radicals (not one of the rules) about keeping your opponent busy, focused on ‘Alice in Wonderland rabbit holes’, always keep them off guard, don’t let them focus on one issue.

The reason your idea is not true is that no one except a very few people are concerned about his origin or eligibility. The MSM doesn’t touch it, conservative talk guys and gals aren’t touching it, GOP dudes and dudettes are not touching it. Only us “fringe kooks” touch it, and we are no thread to 0bama. This is a false idea that 0bama is fueling this just to side track people. Totally wrong. Not true.
