You are right. This has nothing to do with defending our border, or law and order. It has everything to do with the confiscation of firearms. It is another example of one of Rahm Emanuel’s crisis opportunities that can’t be allowed to go to waste. They are using it as an excuse to do what they intended to do all along. If they were serious about securing the border and border communities, they would send tens of thousands of more personnel whose specific mission is to stop illegal entry and drug smuggling, such as Border Patrol and DEA agents, these officers would be stationed at the border, at border crossings, along the border fence line and especially at all those locations where the border fence ends; ATF’s mission is a different thing entirely, that is, the domestic control of liquor, tobacco and weapons. This response only makes sense if you are a raving loony unconcerned with violence spilling over our borders, but very concerned with anyone owning a gun in order to protect themselves. We are securing Mexico’s border for Mexico, not the U.S. border for Americans, and we are “protecting” Mexico from guns.

ATF is coming in to provide backup for DEA. The only good side to this is that there will be inter-agency infighting over the dope revenue. DEA vs ATF. Who to root for? All of this on top of the $25.00 a pound Tobacco tax increase. For the children, of course.
