About 100 officers were gathered outside the entrance to the hospital’s emergency room, waiting desperately for information about their wounded friends and colleagues. Some of them were wearing SWAT gear, while others were wearing baseball jerseys after having raced from a game.

My prayers and condolences for the officers and their families.

It’s a very difficult job that our police have and it’s not getting easier, either. Sometimes there are stories here about the police that anger me, but I always try to keep in mind that they are putting there butts on the line every day to maintain order in our society, and it is a high-risk occupation, double that in places like Oakland.

One only has to look at Mexico to see how much worse off everyone is when the police are corrupt or just give up.

It’s my studied opinion that the overwhelming majority of our police (including the few I’ve had the privilge to know personally) are stand up men and woman, who take all aspects of their jobs very seriously.

It is a terrible tragedy for all of us when good men fall in the line of duty like this.

May god have mercy on our fallen heros.

Oh, that visual brings tears to my eyes.
