This occurred in California...
Texas built more prisons (when Bush was Governor) to keep the hardened criminals off the streets.
California tends to be just a little bit more liberal than Texas (overall).
He was not for murder, but rather assault with a deadly weapon...

Maybe it is time to rebuild Alcatraz as a prison with 50 story buildings... One could hold more prisoners that way... One would have to take it away from the the National Park Service first...

All four police officers are dead, and the Suspect is also dead...
One of my uncles was a policeman with the LAPD (Los Angeles). He moved from a nice place in Malibu because the Black Panthers in the 1960's threatened to kill his family...
