First truly American thing he’s done in office, IMHO.

Obama snubs the Brits, disses the handicapped, and now insults the French. What’s left?

If he sticks his foot in his mouth any more, he’s going to turn himself inside out.

Double check. This may not be an Obama gaffe.

What’s left?

Race-baiting. Holder gave it a try, but the Kenyan will do him one better.

Writing a love note to Chirac instead of a presidential letter to Sarkozy?

Wow, we have much different ideas of what’s American conduct.

I meant it’s American to insult the French. I don’t really care about the actual details.

Obama apparently sent the exact same letter to Italian President Giorgio Napolitano:

You are correct. I am amazed at how long this story is still being mis-reported. This was a specific response to a letter from Chirac. Nobama makes enough legitimate gaffes that we don’t have to glom onto false ones.

My guess would be that the letter was written a couple years ago when he was pimping for the White House. He’s arrogant enough to do that but didn’t plan on the French throwing out Chirac..

You are missing the worst part of him sending a similiar letter to Giorgio Napolitano... he is not the leader of Italy, Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is.

So just like in France, he sent the letter to the person who is NOT IN CHARGE.

So either he is coming off as a blatant snub to the true leaders of both France and Italy, or he is seen as a baffoon.

Either way, it’s not good.

"Double check. This may not be an Obama gaffe."

Well, I think that you are right about that. I think that it's important that when we begin a bash we get all our facts straight, otherwise we look like the loons over at DU. On yesterday's rather lengthy thread on this subject, I posted that the Christian Science Monitor on line was saying that Obama was replying to a letter from Chirac about his newly formed foundation. I know that we think that Obama is a fool, but that explanation makes more sense to me.

This must have been a knee-jerk reaction on your part. Certainly you must know that Sarkozy is an ally and in his short time as President, has already done much to mend fences. I don’t have the words to describe the scorn I feel for chiraq, but I have heard Sarkozy on occasion and I consider him more American than that Dick Durban or Nancy Pelosi.

No, it isn’t. It’s American to protect the French. It’s American to ignore the French. It’s American to do any no. of things, but it has not been historically American to insult the French in as infantile a manner as 0bama has chosen.
