We the people are completely on our own. In my opinion the solutions are in two precious documents the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.
About so called self righteous moderates who see truth as extreme, it is so dang true. Shades of Cartman’s mother in callous whorish denial: “it’s OK honey”
My analogy is that Brrack is like the one brother in The Godfather movie who is purposely kept "clean" and without blemish, or blank...until needed. I think it was Fredo?
They were told just exactly who he was. They knew. Then if there is a shred of doubt, err on the side of caution. They did not because they wanted to be popular, fit in, join the crowd.
These same type of people would have been in the crowd when Pilat asked what to do with Jesus, "Kill him". It was a crowd thingy, mass hysteria.
I think I’d rather deal with an out-and-out Communist than a moderate. Much more honest. And easier to defeat. Easier to demonize. I think Satan himself parades around as a moderate. Perfect strategy. Very disarming.
Let's hope he leads all the "demonRats" out of power.
Hand me a bucket, Comarade.
No, he’s exactly what I thought he was. Our hope is that he will spend most of his time on personal pleasures.
I definitely agree. The question in my mind is what that particular set of "moderates" wanted so badly to believe. One commonality is that they are urban, wealthy, and tend to be educated at Ivy League or similar institutions, a description which the Democratic candidates fit but the Republican ones did not. I realize that a weird sort of class solidarity is probably at work here, but wouldn't you think it the sort of thing such mighty intellects would be aware of?
It certainly explains the nearly insane revulsion these people expressed for Sarah Palin, one candidate from what was nominally their own party, who was as far from that profile as, well, as I am. She was one of "those people," a conclusion one cannot reach unless one considers oneself a member of "our people." I'm not entirely sure this is a curable condition. The pundits will not be satisfied until the candidates change, and we may not be satisfied until the pundits change. For the first time in a long time the latter is not only feasible, bit it seems to be happening. And Brooks, Buckley, Parker, Noonan, et al ought to pay a little more attention to it.

“Barack Obama...is who we THOUGHT he was! And we let him off the hook!”
Burgers..MMMMM
Pick a date and I’ll caravan in from California with as many as I can persuade, pitchfork in hand.
These words have captured the moment in which we live, in which America teeters on the brink of oblivion and has put the rudder in the hand of Barack Obama.
Yes, you’re right, as in “...of Calais” - a work of art which fairly accurately reflects the emotions of suddenly disillusioned “moderates” and the rest of us too!
