Mexico City, Mexico, Mar 27, 2009 / 04:59 pm (CNA).- During her recent visit to Mexico, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made an unexpected stop at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe and left a bouquet of white flowers “on behalf of the American people,” after asking who painted the famous image.
The image of Our Lady of Guadalupe was miraculously imprinted by Mary on the tilma, or cloak, of St. Juan Diego in 1531. The image has numerous unexplainable phenomena, such as the appearance on Mary’s eyes of those present in the room when the tilma was opened and the image’s lack of decay

I remember sitting in a college class at a pretty “prestigious” university and the professor was lecturing about a psychology expereiment that was named after “The Good Samaritan” story. He asked the class how many had heard of the story. I was shocked when about 3 other people besides myself out of about 100 rose their hand. Then he proceeded to tell the story wrong. lol
LOL! Is not so hard to believe when you consider the rank amateurs running this country. But just like when Gore was at Monticello, and asked, ‘Now...who are these people up here?” ( referring to the busts of the countries founders), there won’t be a peep from the media.

For the sake of argument let's suppose Hillary Clinton, a Methodist, can be forgiven for not knowing the major stories of the Catholic faith, a designation for which Our Lady of Guadalupe certainly qualifies. But even so, how is it possible that on an official visit to the most famous religious shrine in Mexico no one at the State Department thought to brief Clinton on the story of the shrine? It's unbelievable. Talk about amateur hour!

Most of our elected officals are a bunch of provincial hicks - . Their staffs consist of young people who run around the office repeating the words, “green,” “gay community,” “multiculturalism,” all the while knowing and caring nothing about anyone’s culure except their own and that of the gay community. That’s “culture” to them.
She needs the background, the main players, the history of conflict and the local color of each place she visits. Otherwise you get this type of silly mistake that takes away from what is trying to be achieved.
As an example, just imagine meeting the Russian counterpart and handing him a silly button with misspelled words on it. Oh,,,........excuse me, already done it.
This is more serious than looking stupid to a bunch of Catholics. This shows utter incompetence in a very sensitive Obama post. I predict it won't be the last mistake of this kind and I can only pray it doesn't end in a nuclear exchange from some perceived insult to a nuclear nation.
