I think what is about to happen is this: GM will become a political entity ala the New York Times. The Times made a conscious decision to talk only to half the population. GM will unwittingly do the same. So already 50% of their potential customer base will be lost.
Not all is lost: the new admin will lean on Hertz and Avis to fill their fleet purchases chock full of GM cars. Or else face the consequences. The command economy!

I’m in the health care business. The only way the Government will ever control healthcare cost will be to control the salaries of the workers. The people will not stand for services to be cut as a first move to reign in costs, but they will approve lowering salaries. They will be thinking “Take that rich doctorsâ€. Problem is it’s not their high salaries that make healthcare costly. It’s the hundred’s of thousands other helathcare workers (nurses, tech, aides, etc) that add up to real money. I now work 14-15 hour days, only to be paid for 12. Every week is 50 -60 hours, only to be paid for 40. Why? Because that is what I have to do to provide proper care for my patients. I have to many patients needing to much. I am not allowed to do less than what is needed. But yet they will cut my pay eventually. They cut MD’s salaries, they just don’t make as much. They cut my pay, I can’t get by.
I hope he fails.

I’ve been listening all morning (granted, with half an ear...I’m working).
But all the news I’m hearing seems to say: The auto companies won’t get more money. They will get “operating capital”.
And Waggoner is stepping down. But he’s not leaving.
I know Bush had set demands with the last bailout...come up with a viable plan by March 31 or no more money. So Obama says they didn’t meet the requirements. What is the difference in the money he’s going to give them vs. what he’s saying they will not get for having failed to meet the requirements?
(Even my QUESTIONS don’t make much sense!)
