At least they are NORTHERN Spotted Owls. Here in Arizona, we have to put up with this kind of environMENTAList crap for the MEXICAN Spotted Owl and the MEXICAN wolf. Oy.

Just put up K-Mart signs where there used to be trees. I hear the spooted owls like to build nests in the big K.

Pure leftwing politics.

One "seldom mentioned" fact about the decline of the northern spotted owl is that the chief threat is the barred owl (the common owl of the Southeast). This owl is currently invading the turf of the northern spotted owl and it is hybridizing with it. The result is known as a "sparred owl." No kidding.

Of course, the Lefties never bring this up. Even with managed logging, there will always be owls in the Pacific Northwest. There may be fewer spotted owls, but there will still be plenty of barred owls and sparred owls.

Ping.

No surprise here..

Obama and his minions will ALWAYS take the decision or course that produces the most negative impact to the American Economy, American Industry, American Energy Independence, American Security, American Sovereignty and traditional American “cultural values”....

He is dedicated to the ruination of this Republic..
Once you acknowledge that - his actions make sense to him and his “fellow travelers”..

The nonproductive and counterproductive members of society will always be favored as Obama’s “electorate” at the expense of the productive and accomplished members of society...

I remain convinced the country will be involved in massive levels of violence before the bastard is removed from office.

I could not shake the impression that these loggers voted for him, in this case they are getting exactly what they asked for.

My step-daughter lived with her dad in a logging community in Oregon when she was in high school (somewhat recently). She seems to know a lot about loggers, and even witnessed the death of her favorite high school teacher at a logging festival: he fell from the top of a pole. (I don't know what the event is called, but the logger has to scale a tall pole and then come flying down. Any loggers out there in FReeperland?)

Anyway, according to her, no logger, under any circumstances, would have voted for Obama. Hope that helps.

These actions have nothing to do with saving the spotted owl. It’s a socialist ruse to expand government by employing more regulation with the goal of replacing our Democratic government with socialism.

Well,
It seems half the beaches here in MA are now un-useable and closed due to the piping plover.
They are more important than me.

I’m sure these birds could never find some other place to nest without our help.

I understand how you feel but it's just temporary. Out in the West, I've encountered some beaches closed (temporarily) for other animals, such as certain seal species. In Arizona, some great areas I like to quad are closed off in spring for desert bighorn lambing. Also some great birding lakes in southern Nevada deny access to people in spring and early summer for wading birds (hatching and fledging).

It's sometimes annoying, but I do understand the importance of breeding grounds for certain species.

As for the piping plover, it only breeds on barren flats such as beaches, playas, etc. But the breeding ground protection should only last until July. By mid-July, they should all be gone (and headed south).

If, for some reason, these beaches in MA are still closed after July, I would certainly like to know about it.

Thanks for the info.

And the thing that really burns me up about this is that the Northern spotted owl is genetically IDENTICAL to the Mexican Spotted owl.

You lib suckers in Washington State and Oregon [...]

Your vitriol is ill deserved.

Rural WA and OR are no different than MT, ID, WY. Remove Seattle and Portland from the picture and they would be conservative states.

How do we remove them? Can we make them both part of California?

Naw. I think we need to change their minds. If they are so worried about "endangered species", let's give them some. We've got grizzlies and wolves to spare up here in MT... 50 of each turned loose between Portland and Seattle would change a bunch of minds, I guarantee it.
