"No, he bowed -- an act of submission. Correct. This isn't at all like the Japanese custom of bowing, where both parties bow to each other - almost identical to a handshake in western culture.
In the middle east, bowing takes on an ENTIRELY different connotation. Barry's not unfamiliar with Arab and Muslim customs. This was intentional.
