“Does Michigan have a movement to recognize these out-of-state gay marriages, or any lawsuits on the issue? “

NO. Any lawsuit would have to be in federal court and I doubt the USSC wants to rule on state constitutions.

No queer marriage will be recognized in Michigan, regardless of where the queers had their happy event preformed.

The old barb “if you love ______ so much then why don’t you marry it” has now become a legal term.

Safe to say Justice Kennedy is the man where this will all play out.

“To all good Iowans, you are welcome to come south to Missouri.”

I agree. Come on down, 71% of our state voted for a Constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage. Instead of a simple law, Iowa needed to add it to their state constitution.

Missouri will gladly take all Conservative Iowans who come on down.

The People's Republik of Vermont... of course! Is VT officially a gay state yet? If not, they will be soon... I have no doubt.

“Well, animals and children are not consenting adults capable of entering into a contract, so that’s a null argument.”

Just redefine children to a lower age — the man love organization is attempting this very move — and give animals rights to engage in marriage too. Another tactic is to redefine marriage so that “consenting adults” is not included in the definition. This is not far fetched in that children were traditionally married off in different cultures without consent of any sort.

VT had domestic unions and now they want marriage, NH has just got union and now they want marriage

they will not stop until they get marriage then it will be forcing religious groups and those opposed to accept them .
then it is adoption
then it is teaching it in schools

if you don’t believe me then look at MA

I lived there for a bit and believe me they are the front runner , the lead for us to look at and it is appalling.

The Good Lord will bring down His wrath on Iowa.

The population of Iowa isn't like Massachusetts or Connecticut. As great a majority oppose gay marriage in Iowa as do in the country as a whole. God and the people need to bring wrath down upon the Iowa Supreme Court and the Democratic party.

Based on the fact that he’s authored the only two pro-”gay rights” decisions (Romer v. Evans and Lawrence v. Texas) that the SCOTUS has ever handed down, I think it’s pretty much guaranteed that he’ll back gay marriage. The only question is when. He and the libs may want to wait until more states have supporte d gay marriage before hearing any case concerning gay marriage, whether it be full faith and credit or a direct equal protection challenge to all marriage laws.

Do I need a license from the state to take communion? Then why do I need one to take part in another religious ceremony, namely marriage?

true what the court has said is that it is unconstitutional

then lets use that argument of the court and liberals

so why can’t I marry my daughter
why can’t I marry my dog
why can’t my daughter marry her brother
why can’t my wife marry the furniture

see the point I am making

it is either a man and a woman or it is everything and I would love to see if polygimists go to court to have their marriage legal there.
will the homo’s say it is alright, will the liberals say it is OK and there is no way the court can deny them with their verdict and statement.

come on polygamists please please please go to these homo states and get married, I actually want them too and see the people who don’t follow politics react

if this happened it would be the worst nightmare of homo’s and liberals

so please go and get married polygamists

” Finally, the court found that, despite their securing of significant legal protections againstdiscrimination in recent years, gay and lesbian people have not become so
politically powerful as to overcome the unfair and severe prejudice that produces discrimination based on sexual orientation.”

The court reaffirmed that a statute inconsistent with the Iowa Constitution must be declared void, even though it may be supported by strong and deep-seated traditional beliefs and popular opinion.

Who gave the courts the power to overrule the popular vote? This is utter nonsense! When are people going to rise up in protest?!!

ALL CONSERVATIVES up north need now to get out of the north east and some of those northern states and move south.

we need to make an area where we increase the electoral count and have a real power base where only conservatives get elected and note I never said republicans move here just conservatives

I think they just voted for queer marriage in Vermont.

They are a few votes short for an override if the governor vetoes it.
