Gun-Free Zones Are a Magnet for Attacks Like the Tragedy In Binghampton
Fox News ^ | April 3, 2009 | John R. Lott, Jr.

Posted on 04/03/2009 2:57:41 PM PDT by JohnRLott

Time after time multiple victim public shootings occur in gun free zones, public places where citizens are not legally able to carry guns. The horrible attack today in Binghamton, New York is no different. Every multiple victim public shooting that I have studied where more than three people have been killed has taken place where guns are banned.

You would think that it would be an important part of the news stories for a simple reason: Gun-free zones are a magnet for these attacks. Extensive discussions of these attacks can be found here and here. We want to keep people safe, but the problem is that it is the law-abiding good citizens, not the criminals, who obey these laws. We end up disarming the potential victims and not the criminals. Rather than making places safe for victims, we unintentionally make them safe for the criminal.

At some point you would think the media would notice that something is going on here, that these murderers aren’t just picking their targets at random. . . . .

The media notice and report accurately? Surely you jest.

Shouldn’t Fox News learn how to properly spell Binghamton?

Been saying this for years about the "sex-offender-free" zones. Makes parents feel safe so they relax their guard and...

If any real analysis was done at all after these events, the gun-free killing zones would be identified as a factor. However, we all know the media cares only about sensational reporting (even if everything reported is false) and driving their gun-grabbing agenda.

"If any real analysis was done at all after these events, the gun-free killing zones would be identified as a factor."

Ann Coulter has repeatedly commented on the irony that libs accuse conservatives of being, "anti-science," yet go on to ignore in toto, the exhaustive studies that show increased violent crime in areas with restrictive firearms ownership, and decreased crime rates in areas with active CCW programs.

Yep. Look at Wash DC. Tough gun restrictions, lots of people killed with guns. Didn’t I just read Canada is ditching their gun bans since it doesn’t reduce gun violence?

I do not believe it is "unintentionally". This is part of the plan of the marxist, ever growing, movement in this country, led by our marxist President barack hussein obama.

Thank you Mr. Lott. I won’t hold my breath to see if your analysis is on any other so-called “news” outlet.

Might be worth your while to check out the “American Civic Association” where the people were murdered. It is leftwing.

My CHL /CCW evolution has gone from a off duty Mod 37 S&W snub in a custom ankle rig w/ one spare bianchi speed strip to a Glock 31 w/ 3 spare mags and same ankle rig with 3 spare bianchi speed strips.

If the good lord lets me see the rabid critter(s) first !

Stay Safe ya’ll !

Off duty? Sig 239 .40 with 2 spare mags and/or G30 .45 with 2 spare mags. Those are to get me to the truck.

To: Travis McGee; glock rocks

Two IWB Galco mag pouch and one in the ruler pocket of my carpenter jeans on left (weak side) leg.

The Glock 31 is IWB chamber empty without a holster full magazine.

The very old Uncle Mikes Nylon Ankle rig has a pocket that a parachute rigger made on it to hold 3 of the bianchi speed strips or a old style 50 round box of .22’s if I carry the Beretta 70S or my newer SW 317 snub revolver .22.

The .22 gets carried lots of times if I am wheel off road or camping or in big city where civil unrest may put me in a Reginald Denny situation.

Most of time the SW Mod 37 .38 is the ankle rig.
