Can a sidewinder lock onto the heat signature of a Cessna? I think we should have found out.

The originals? (1960s) Probably not. But they've been out of service for years.

Those currently in service? I wouldn't bet against it.

However ... the Viper also has a 20mm gun. Just the thing for taking out a slow moving threat.
