our tabloid press is particularly ferocious in its pursuit of juicy stories like this to whip their readership into a frenzy of righteous indignation, often employing the strategic use of ommission and fact-twisting to make the story even more infuriatingly fascinating to the suckers who subscribe to their rag....

So I'm guessing your from the U.K. and are here to tell us that he was not arrested for being honest and you don't live in a "nanny state"!?

Bear in mind that stupid things happen in every country.

True, but you'll have to admit that lately the U.K. has been on quite a roll. ;-)

As a military brat I lived in the U.K. (Mendenhall) and went back many times while in the service... watching the U.K.s decline over the years has been most painful, culminating in the pitiful nanny state it is now... hopefully we can keep that from happening in the States.

Man, the U.K. used to "own" the colonial world and now it appears the former colonies have invaded and conquered the once mighty British... from the inside.

AOV wipes a tear from his eye...

I’m curious, do cops have common sense in England?

I’m saying that there may be more to this story than is being reported here. Then again, there might not be. But on the face of it, it just appears far too ridiculous for someone to be arrested for handing in a mobile phone, so what is it that the Sexpress is leaving out of this story that would spoil the thrilling ride on the outrage bus to indignationville? That is my instinctual query....

I know what you are saying, I usually like to let the dust settle on stories reported here before throwing them out there.

They dont, but just as in every other nation, they do have to “interpret” the law, in the same kind of way judges and courts do.

Oh yeah, this kind of thing never happens in the US.

Get real.

What he should do is go back to the police station and leave an old cell phone there and if by chance they try to return it press charges against them.
