SOMALI PIRATES TIED TO JIHAD
Law Enforcement Examiner ^ | April 8, 2009 | Jim Kouri

Posted on 04/11/2009 9:29:36 AM PDT by BarnacleCenturion

In spite of the news media distancing the recent attack on a cruise ship off the coast of Somalia from global terrorism, intelligence experts believe this is just the latest operation initiated against the United States and the West by Al-Qaeda.

Recently a failed assassination attempt on the prime minister of Somalia, as well as the attempt to hijack a luxury American cruise ship, has intensified apprehension and fear that the shaky Somalian government is losing to Al-Qaeda and Wahhabi terror groups.

Three people were mortally wounded in a terrorist attack on the Prime Minister, Ali Mohamed Gedi, while he was visiting the war-torn capital of Mogadishu. He survived the deadly encounter which entailed an explosion set off near his convoy, according to security experts. Mr Gedi was merely visiting since his government is in quasi-exile in Jowhar. The danger in the Somali capital is so great that the transitional government must avoid setting up their headquarters there.

Since 2003, Somalia has witnessed the growth of a brutal network of Jihad with strong ties to Al-Qaeda. In fact, when the US forces faced a bloody battle in 1995 during what became known as the Black Hawk Down incident, it was Al-Qaeda joining with a local warlord who killed and wounded US special operations soldiers.

Let’s apprehend the perps alive, and then torture them until they tell us who they are working for.

Time to reinstate the U.S. Navy Armed Guard.

Against Maritime Law? So is piracy. Piracy will go on and on as long as our president keeps the "Come and get it" policy of no armed security.

I like Dennis Miller’s idea: since these guys want to be “pirates”, when we capture one we should amputate a leg and give him a peg.

Now, now. Those Somali-Americans are contributing richly to American culture, as Muslims always have. I'm sure hundreds of them are lining up to serve as interpreters and CIA undercover agents as we speak. /S

I think corpses of pirates were also gibbeted—placed in cages so their rotting remains would not be carried off by varmints, and displayed in public places like the shorelines of port.

Ummmm..., talk about Jihad... look at this list I posted yesterday... Reagan has his “jihad” to deal with... :-)

A previous post of mine below...

Well, an interesting thing happened on the way to Free Republic for me, yesterday..., it just started with a simple post yesterday and two little items on it... I never intended for the following list to come about... LOL...

Here’s where it all started, and then some FReepers started giving me some more events.. :-)

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/bloggers/2226437/posts?page=5#5

THEN... it turned into this...

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/bloggers/2226437/posts?page=43#43

It’s a good comparison of what Obama is doing now, and you can compare it to what Reagan did in his terms in office (Oh wow!...)...

"Leading members of Al-Qaeda continue to operate, mostly in secrecy, in Somalia and have built up cooperation with some of the warlords who control food, water and medicine. And the people of Somalia starve, mourn and die."

Religion of Peace strikes again. Obama's not at war with Islam, while they continue enriching Somalia.

Watching wall to wall coverage of the Maersk Alabama arriving in Mombasa. All sorts of blather over the situation....too much actually. So...I've come up with a reasonable and face saving solution.

The ransom is a measly $2 million for Capt. Phillips and as we all know the US doesn't negotiate with terrorists, pirates.....whatever...so Obama should pay the ransom himself, from the advance he got from his upcoming book deal. This would do wonders for his ratings in the polls, it would ingratiate him with Allah and the Pirates and solve the problem peacefully. Insh'Allah.

But there are two parts to the solution. This would work only if Capt. Phillips converts to Islam during his captivity. After all, Muslim charity is reserved for Muslims only.

Maybe 0boz0 can exchange $inator Kerry for the Captain.

Then Kerry can “nuance” the Somali Pirates into submission or a painful near death experience due to listening to him.

Have the pirates waived their Miranda rights?

A present day example from Nancy Pelosi's front yard, US flagged and still licensed for active duty! Don't nail just Obama on this; although as Senator he could and should have acted when the pirates became more active a couple years ago.

Article 1, Section 8:
"The Congress [i.e. Pelosi, Reid, ex-Sen. Obama, Biden, Clinton, etc. who all swore to uphold and defend the Constitution] shall have power: ...
To define and punish piracies and felonies committed on the high seas, and offences against the law of nations..."
SF's Liberty Ship
San Francisco's liberty ship "museum" is still officially active and ready to sail.

It has guns fore and aft. They would have sufficed, but with the automation and small crews of newer vessels something newer is desirable. A couple of remote controlled guns with auto-loaders, cameras and lasers for aiming and video game style interface could be run by some one on the bridge or some safer duty station. Design them so they can't be fired manually, but only via computer with e-security and all the latest liberal "smart gun" technology so the pirates couldn't fire them; there would be time to activate these guns via such unlike hand gun issues. The home office could temporarily disable them via satellite when entering ports and the system could broadcast that fact to local authorities; have Hillary get local and international laws modified to permit such. The technology exists and a cheaper, less robust than full military, version could probably be whipped up fairly quickly. Deploy them just on US flagged ships sailing in at risk areas. As there are only 200 US flagged ships, most of which sail just in US waters or, to and from AK and HA, not many ships would get them. Spend stimulus $ to pay for it. Issue US flagged ships so equipped Letters of Marque as a legal shield. That might not stop all judicial attacks, but the need to go through Hillary before you get to the actual sailors/ship owners should slow down the judicial vultures.

License the tech to other countries who want to buy it. We could include a US issuable computer override code in foreign sales. I suspect foreign sales will be few as most will prefer to pay higher insurance costs, hazard pay and ransoms, but for some high value ships it may be cost effective and pay back part of our costs.
