A great cry of anger, coupled with vows of vengeance, rose up from the pirate lairs hidden around the Horn of Africa after Captain Richard Phillips' rescue ...
[Pirates]: "From now on, if we capture foreign ships and their respective countries try to attack us, we will kill the hostages."

I really doubt that he ordered anything.
He voted present.
He "ordered" a pizza -- he even had the chef flown to Washington from Chicago.

Republicans/conservatives tend to lean to objectivism and intellectual honesty. As you can see from many of the posts here, they could care less about the pirates. Kill them is their response, regardless of who is president.
Democrats/liberals, though, would be saying everything I wrote...about how Bush (if he were president) was “disproportionately responding” to the piracy, was “destabilizing the region,” and so on.
You wont see Dems/libs saying those things about Obama, though. We all know this.
Libs/Dems have arguments when Dems are president and other arguments when Republicans are president. They are subjective to the core.

When crews refuse to sign on for the passages of these vulnerable cargo vessels, they will begin to be armed to the gunnels and will travel in groups of two or more.

He got out of the way and let our Navy do what it does best. I detest Bambi as much as the next guy, but at least he had the sense to get out of the way. I expected less of him. We should give credit where due.

Breaking on FOX
The negotiators convinced the pirates that since they were drifting toward Somalia their lives were in danger because they could be killed and their hostage taken away. m They convinced the pirates to allow the Navy to attach a rope and keep them from drifting toward the shore.
THEY BOUGHT IT

I think he had the chef flown in from St. Louis which angered Chicago pizza makers.

Criminals who feel entitled to their illegal activity...hmmmm...gosh that sounds familiar. I must say that I'm reminded (as I often am) of a scene from a movie. The Jim Carey movie "Liar, Liar" had a couple of good scenes that directly relate to this situation:
Greta: Mr. Reede, several years ago a friend of mine had a burglar on her roof, a burglar. He fell through the kitchen skylight, landed on a cutting board, on a butcher's knife, cutting his leg. The burglar sued my friend, he sued my friend. And because of guys like you *he won*. My friend had to pay the burglar $6,000. Is that justice?
Fletcher: No!
[Greta looks pleased, but then Fletcher continues]
Fletcher: I'd have got him ten.
[Greta stalks off, appalled]
And then there's one of my favorite bits:
Greta: He knocked over another ATM. This time at knife point. He needs your legal advice.
Fletcher: [picking up phone and shouting] Stop breaking the law, a**hole!

There was a Reuters report yesterday that praised the pirates for their hospitality how they even bring roasted goat to their captives. I kid you not. I suggested they publish a cookbook or get a gig on Food Network--Entertaining on the High Seas.

The US Navy has standing orders to deal with piracy of US vessels on the high seas. I have full confidence in the US Naval command structure and their decision to apply lethal force now and in the future. Obama needs to say something similar and then stand aside. To do more merely elevates the criminals to higher level of importance than they deserve.

The Libs are screeching about the pollution that is being dumped off the coast of Somalia being the reasoning for the poor fisherman driven to piracy to feed their families.Which may or may not be true. Below is a link to an article regarding this, but consider the source. The problem is that the left lies so easily and often about so many things, that like the boy who cried "wolf" they cannot be believed. I'd like to see confirmation or repudiation from a non-lefty site, but have to work and don't have time.

If proven true, I fully back any efforts to stop it and punish those responsible. But it still does not justify piracy.
