Baby Leif is out of surgery and is doing fine. They will not close up his chest for a couple of days because of swelling and the possibility of needing to go back in. They put in pacemaker leads, but it doesn’t look like that will be permanent, and no pacemaker was put in. Just forward looking, in case he should run into trouble.
Momma went back to work from maternity leave, day before yesterday, and was promptly let go from her job (heartless *&%%%%%*## bankers), so her family could really use your continued prayers.
I want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers.
Thank God this little one is doing well after surgery. Sounds like he’s a little “tuffy” :)
Our prayers will continue for him and for his family. So sorry to hear about his mom’s job situtation. If she was let go because of the situation with the baby... I would think she has a heck of a cause of action against the company. Just my opinion.

the day after surgery
last night i stayed in the room with him. a couple of times his lungs clamped down and they had to give him some albutoral (asthma medication) to open the airways back up. they are concerned about his aortic arch still. basically the aorta is larger than the vein they used to patch it, so we are looking at flow concerns. will enough blood flow get thru to circulate well enough for his body. a big pipe leading into a small pipe is the easiest way to look at it. they may be able to do an additional patch to slightly help things move along. the earliest they would get back in there is a week from surgery. last we heard he still had not had urine output so they are keeping an eye on his kidneys. this is not uncommon for the length of surgery he had to not have output for 24-48 hours after surgery.

Baby Leif is coming along nicely. He still has some edima problems, but they’ve decided that the heart is doing well, so no more surgery. He did have a small brain bleed, but that does not seem to be a huge issue. She said that he is becoming more and more alert, and the urine output issue, that they were so worried about, has corrected itself. We are all feeling much more confident that he’ll be able to come home in a month or so. Thanks for your concern!

Thanks for the update on little Leif Beth. Sounds like “so far, so good”. We will continue with our prayers for him and when time warrants, please let us know how he’s doing.

Thanks so much. We believe that the prayers being said for him from all over are working. The Dr’s told her yesterday that she would never truly understand what a miracle Leif is. I think we all know!
