Er, what about saving?
I have never made a big salary, but if I lost my job I would have enough money to live.
You miss the point...this IS the goal for socialist liberals...
The article is celebration....not lamentation...
I feel bad for the family, but it appears as if they had no money in savings. He was laid off six months ago and he is six months behind in his house payments. That means even with a six figure salary he was living pay check to pay check.
Not talking about this guy in particular, but even if you have savings, eventually they’ll run out. If you have a year’s worth of savings, after a year without income the savings will be gone, even if you don’t have unexpected expenses (major car repairs, property tax hike, health issue, etc.) So it’s easy to look at people who are having financial problems and sneer that they should have been better prepared. There are times when nothing is sufficient and you’re just postponing the inevitable.
my husband has lost one pension due to bankruptcy, and now in his present job, he has been cut down to 3 days a week...
neither of us has ever made a big salary.....
but you know what....we get up on his days off, when I’m not working, have a nice breakfast together, and then play cards...he’ll then go do some home repairs and such and I go about my business....
its quite nice actually......we don’t have a huge wad but we don’t have tremendous expenses either...
