There is a difference between defending ourselves and holding people for years on end w/o trial.
Didn’t we do that in WWII?

Just because it has precedence (”we did it before”) doesn’t mean it was right. {Example: Our Japanese internment-camps.}

This case could go all the way to the Supreme Court, and change the way America conducts wars forever. You mean SEVERELY HAMPER the way America conducts wars, forever.
CURSE the judges who violate their sacred oaths, undermine our Constitution and weaken our nation!

And who will do the killing? Our guys will all be in court somewhere in the U.S. or waiting for trials endlessly delayed by defense lawyers.O.K., send the U.N. packing to Paris or Brussels, pull all of our troops out of everywhere, build the WALLS at both of our borders and station them there and on our coasts, perfect the missile defense shield and deploy it in depth, stop ALL immigration and trade and let the rest of the world go to hell!
Let 'em slaughter each other to their hearts' content! If we have to fight with gloves on over there, stop fighting over there.
Or otherwise, fight to win so overwhelmingly that none dare oppose us. No more Mr. Nice Guy! < /rambling rant >

Habeas here means everyone captured on battlefields is presumed innocent and gets taxpayer-funded defense lawyers and every right of Americans. That includes making the soldiers involved to be flown back to the U.S. for the terrorists trial, where theyll have to testify and defend themselves. The soldiers will have to provide evidence to prove their allegations about the terrorist defendant. If they cant prove every part of what they say, the terrorist will go free. Everday I wake up to another nightmare decision made by someone in government.
What American will be willing to go to a battlefield and risk their life under these circumstances?
Has it been only 100 days since President Bush and Vice President Cheney left office ?
