I wouldn't categorize him as a radical leftist. He is more an pandering opportunist extrodinaire. I met him a couple of years ago at the Japantown parade. He was going down the sidewalk shaking hands. When he reached me I shook his hand and complimented him on his hair and asked him how much gel does he really use. LOL. I got the eye dagger stare from Gavy although a couple of his security detail smirked. I guess I had to much Sake. :>)
