You just hit the nail on the head. No adult would tolerate verbal abuse like that, but our kids don't have a choice.
I've given my kids an "out". They have one free day to take off a year and they don't have to give a reason. I'm proud that they've proven themselves smart enough to save it and not take a day off to play video games. They both know that life can be overwhelming and they may need to play that card.
I've also told them that I'll homeschool them if they ever need to cry "uncle". If there's a problem and we can't resolve it, they don't have to tolerate abuse. They both love school, but I think they appreciate knowing that they have an option.
They should pass out a picture of the kid hanging in the closet to every student and parent in that school.
I think it a tragedy also BUT.
In Okeechobee Florida a couple of kids pushed for a gay and lesbian club at school.
This is a very rural place where most are 4Hers and cowboys.
They were told if they did not allow for a gay club then ALL other school clubs would have to be halted.
This is the way to push the homosexual agenda and have these kids accepted?
Instead it got some kids beat down and ostracized.
WELL PUT.
THX.
WHAT A WONDERFUL, WISE, LOVING, PARENTAL THING TO DO.
CONGRATS.
Thank you! You’re always so sweet, Quix! :-)
I don't think that they are going to care. If they were, they would not have bullied. They'll just blame him, never themselves.
You’re a Dear Heart!
BTW, I doubt the naysayers on the UFO and DOWN WITH Preterism REPLACEMENTARIANISM END TIMES threads would agree with your kind assessment!
Wait...What? This DEFINITELY needs more explanation. I don't know of this game. I have 3 kids, I don't think they would do something like this, but hey, kids surprise parents every day. I want to know more. Thank you.
PLENTY TRUE.
SADLY, ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE COIN . . .
Bullies typically have horrid parenting . . . are insecure and miserable themselves.
I’d hate to have State intervention to that degree . . . but it’s still more than ironic that one has to take more of a test to drive a car than to be a parent.
Though I guess the horrid test now scheduled in some hospitals before mom can take baby home is tyranny in that direction.
“In the old days, if someone called you gay, you knocked their teeth out.”
****************
In the old days, they would have called someone a faggot.
And I do see this story as more propaganda for the gay cause, though it is sad that bullies caused the boy to hang himself. RIP
The bullying may not have driven you to suicide, but it certainly left its mark. That sort of callous attitude towards another's suffering shows it. You clearly never did deal with it.
Well, you’ve always been kind to me, so I’ll just keep that impression! :)
My high school boyfriend and still close friend and I were the bridge between the worlds in high school. We were both jocks and were in the theatre and music. He was the QB, star pitcher and lead baritone in the concert choir. (he went on to play college football in division 2 and now coaches football and baseball and teaches history at a catholic high school in Pennsylvania). I played softball (am 1st team on my high school’s all time team at 1st base and played at Northwestern) and was lead soprano in the choir. Because we had so many friends in both worlds many people became friends through us.
Especially for boys. What I don’t get is if the father decides to skip town women deciding their son doesn’t need a man in his life. If she has brothers, a Dad or such they can step in. It’s not the same exactly but a boy needs a strong male influence. I know if something God forbid happened to my husband my brothers and Dad and my husband’s brothers and Dad would definitely step in as much as possible for my boys especially if I never remarried.
What if they called a gay club and nobody came? That happened at a local school. It’s not that the kids were afraid to join that were gay, they all said it was stupid.
LIKEWISE.
THX BIG.
I give those characters a lot of their own grief & medicine because it’s the only way I can discourage their trolling disruptiveness on such threads . . . sadly.
Have a blessed weekend with those you love.
And enjoy some extra hugs with those great kids, in HIS NAME.
I know that there’s no trolling allowed on some of the religious threads. I wonder if the UFO threads could have the same policy? It would be nice if there were a way to keep things civil.
I am a Krav Maga instructor. One of the primary focuses of our kids classes is how to deal with bullies.
One mom pulled me aside after class about six months after her son, 11 years old, had been training. She told me that her son started coming to class because he’d been a constant target of bullies. Now, he was no longer targeted. I asked if he’d been in any violent confrontations. She said no, the bullies simply picked up on his increased confidence and decided that there were other, easier targets. Her eyes were filled with tears as she told me this.
It was one of my best days as an instructor ever.
