Napolitano declares public health emergency @ 1:01 pm by Eric Zimmermann
The United States will declare the swine flu outbreak a public health emergency, Homeland Security Director Janet Napolitano said today.
Speaking at a White House press briefing, Napolitano said the declaration is not as severe it sounds.
"It allows us to free up state and local resources" that otherwise would not be available, Napolitano said.
The declaration does not necessarily convey the authority to initiate quarantines.
"We're nowhere near that kind of decision," Napolitano said.
Also at the briefing, the Director of the Center for Disease Control, Richard Besser, warned that there will likely be more cases of the swine flu detected in the U.S., adding those cases will grow more severe.

It is sort of telling Obama is driving around in golf carts after just visiting Mexico. If he is worried he is doing an Oscar-worthy performance of hiding it.
I find certain things about this story concerning. Particularly the virus having mixed and unnatural-seeming origins (avian-swine-human).
It is pretty weird. I would not worry until people in the West start dropping like flies despite modern medicine. I think if a big plague hit there would be no question about whether it was a plague or not.
It's going to be an Obama mind control agent for those who are among the 47% that didn't vote for him. Now we can all be slobbering, stupid, feeble-minded sheep.
What I would like to know is quite simple:Was this the missing virus from Fort Detrick,and is there something larger that we don’t know?It does make one a tad paranoid.
It's difficult to conceal the truth.
