Looks like Air Force 1.
Having seen the photo’s I don’t believe the “Taking photo” explanation, what’s the point of the fighter jet, or even the jumbo, who’s taking the photo’s, and why both, and why in a formation that we know smacks of terrorism. Nope, my guess is that Jumbo was hostile in some matter
From Reuters: Air Force One photo op startles New YorkersMon Apr 27, 2009 10:38am EDT
NEW YORK (Reuters) - A photo opportunity involving President Barack Obamas backup plane flying over the Statue of Liberty created a stir in New York City on Monday, but authorities said it was only an authorized exercise.
Obama was not on board.
Please be advised the U.S. Air Force conducted an authorized photo flyover of the downtown Manhattan area this morning, the New York Police Department advised local businesses in an e-mail alert.
Weirdest story in a while.
Well, the pregnant woman I read about in the comments section on silive.com who walked down 50 flights of stairs didn't get the email alert.
Looks like the email alert was after the fact 0_o
I think the weirdness is just beginning.
Realistically we all knew an Obama admin would be a nightmare to watch.
No kidding.
I read somewhere that it was a photo op with the Statue of Liberty. I'm betting the photographer(s) was on the ground getting shots of the statue with the aircraft in the sky in the background.
Of course, I could be wrong.
Air Force One photo op startles New Yorkers ...”It’s the back-up aircraft for Air Force One,” he said. The Department of Transport “coordinated the flight with FAA and we made the notifications to the city so they were aware that the flight would take place between 10 and 10:30 this morning.”
After the incident, New York City released an advisory that the flyover was “part of an approved federal activity.”

Am I the only one that finds this whole thing really weird? Unless of course, they have a plan to eject obammy over the river to prove once and for all that he can walk on water....
i am sure they were taking pics OF the plane around the statue, not taking pics FROM the plane.
i think they were taking beauty shots of AF1 with a fighter escort. would make sense. although, i am a cop in NYC, i work downtown, and had no knowledge of this. you’d think someone would have said something.
” I’m betting the photographer(s) was on the ground getting shots of the statue with the aircraft in the sky in the background.”
That’s my guess. Either on the ground or on a boat nearby. Its for an ad for the 2012 election.
My studio could have produced a shot for them using air show footage and a helicopter flyby of Lady Liberty using compositing software, for a lot cheaper. why go through all this on-site, in an area where memories of that fateful day are still fresh?
Yeah,I loved how the article mentions Obama wasn't on board, because obviously the first and most important concern was whether or not he was on the damn plane. MORONS!
Google Labs is taking image search to a new level actually searching for pictures, not keywords. Instead of giving keywords and getting back pics that appear to be associated with your search words, you select an image and Google coughs up pics that its server thinks look similar.
Try it out on this photo of Obama. See if you can spot a famous airplane pilot in the bottom row of results.
Oh, well, that's worth thousands per hour in fuel.
