Carla Bruni Sarkozy meets her fashion match in Spain's Princess Letizia

For once, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy had to share the limelight on a state visit to Spain on Monday. She met her match in Princess Letizia, the wife of Spain's Crown Prince Felipe.
They made the steps leading to Madrid's Zarzuela Palace resemble a catwalk as Mrs Bruni-Sarkozy and her husband, the French President Nicolas Sarkozy, arrived for two days of talks. Both women wore similar fitted dresses; France's first lady in cobalt blue Christian Dior and Princess Letizia in plum by one of her favourite Spanish designers, Felipe Varela.
But while Mrs Bruni-Sarkozy opted for modest kitten heels by the London-based French celebrity cobbler Christian Louboutin, the princess, a former newsreader, accessorised with lilac platform-soledextreme high heels, a shoe passion she can well afford to indulge given her husband is at least six inches taller than she is.
Mrs Bruni-Sarkozy and her husband were greeted by King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia and honoured with a military parade before attending a luncheon at the Pardo palace, where visiting dignitaries traditionally stay.

Letizia's platform shoes are a hoot. She has them in everyt color and style, and wears them all the time. Her husband is very,very tall, about 6'7 .

Good Lord, will SOMEbody PLEASE get that woman a fashion consultant?
I know that I don't have a good eye, or know how to dress really well -- so I asked around my fashionista friends. They recommended a little dress shop and I put myself in the hands of the owner, who DID know how to dress well.
Now that I'm no longer practicing law, it's not as important -- but I'm still wearing some of the suits and dresses she chose for me. And they still look good (better actually since I lost 35 pounds).

I guess if you're a leg man, this is a feast for the eyes.
They ARE cute shoes . . . heels that high are murder on your back though.
