I don’t care much for Toomey either, but losing Arlen is a good thing, even if his replacement is a dead skunk.

At least spector is being “honest” now. Or maybe it was my e-mail to Michael Steele dressing him down for publicly stating that he would go along with whatever the chairman of the state GOP wanted (and that idiot came out stating that he supported spector)that helped.:)

Well, I for one think that Specter knew he couldn’t win the dang Republican PRIMARY and this is a desperation move.

Toomey will replace him. And be happy to do it.

He is a sell out. If the Dems want those kinds of people, they can have him.

A year or two from now when we're mired in debt, it will be on Specter and the democrats. Oh, and those other two rinos who voted for the so-called "stimulus"

Specter was/is getting clobbered in the pre-primary polls.”

Specter should have been kicked out of the Republican Party long ago.
Bush has to take some of the blame for helping this idiot win the nomination in the last Senate elections.
Good riddance to bad rubbish!

Elation here too. Hell he did us a favor, this whole deal is the Rat’s deal, now he’s one of them. And if the good citizens of PA figure this is the best they can do, well then they deserve him. One less weasel guarding the henhouse.

Specter spit on Republican voters in PA for the last time.

The Dems basically promised Sphincter that he wouldn’t face any Democratic opposition when he runs again. Why would he switch without such reassurance from the DNC?

What make Spectum so sure that he will even win the RAT primary? As McCain found out in November, 2008, running as a RINO did not gain him many votes from the left and cost him votes from the right. I bet there are several long time RATS who have been waiting for AS to retire (or lose the Republican primary) so that they can run against a non-incumbant, and they are not about to let this oppurtunity pass.

He is and always was a career political porkulus gadfly.

I like your comment pretty funny. Liberal Specter decided he would jump ship rather than ‘stay the course’ any longer. Now the GOP has to figure a course that will bring back Conservative Democrats [also known as Reagan Democrats].

It seems the mighty Senate Republicans are the only ones surprised.

Let Harry Reid deal with Scottish Law for a while. I'm sick of it.

An hour ago I received a call from the State of Florida Republican Party. I advised the caller that I no longer consider myself a Repub. and was only voting strict Conservative. Until the GOP had TRUE Conservatives, I was not interested in their calls. I then hung up.

I just wish this could have been done - say - when we weren’t teetering on a 60-vote dictatorship.

Combine Conservatism has its limits, I say. When it gives Democrats dictatorial control over our country, it is no longer promoting the best interests of the country or the Conservative movement.

Liberals are methodical, patient, and persistent. They compromise with Moderates to get their way. I’m just not of the Combine Conservative mentality. I’m not willing to give the country away, irreparably, in the name of purity.

So, I guess, go mega-Rudophile Pat Toomey!!

Without a Gingrich for ideas, how can the Pubbies nationalize next year’s elections?
