California's top elected officials could get pay raises when the California Citizens Compensation Committee meets today in Sacramento.
The commission convenes at least once a year to consider changing salaries, which take effect in December. No raises were given last year, but in 2007 the attorney general and superintendent of public instruction received 5 percent raises while all the others got 2.75 percent raises.
Other officers whose pay the panel oversees include the governor; lieutenant governor; secretary of state; controller; treasurer; insurance commissioner; Board of Equalization members and the 120 members of the Legislature.
Last year, the commission considered a proposal to cut salaries by 10 percent, but its members voted that down. ..
All of the California officials, except for the superintendent of public instruction and the treasurer, earn more than their counterparts in every state in the nation.

Bankrupt industry (CA)?
Pay raises?
Hope they don't fly to D.C. to beg for cash. If history serves, Daddy Zero ain't gonna like that.
IF someone gets a proposition on the ballot to cut elected officials salaries by 30-40%, it would pass with a 99% margin.
California Citizens Compensation Committee???
Straight out of Atlas Shrugged!!!!!!!
Yeah, they have done a bang up job with California ...
If the voters of California were to vote in good fiscal conservatives, who would save the state money, I would be willing to let them have a substantial raise. I know it will never happen, but I spend a lot of time in Fantasyland with my Granddaughter(season passes).
CA: Top elected state officials may get pay raises = buddy system is a wonderful thing.
This is just another example of how out of touch California state political officials are with reality. Tell me ONE thing that these people have done that makes them think they actually DESERVE a pay raise!
Last year, the commission considered a proposal to cut salaries by 10 percent, but its members voted that down.
Clowns in the service of you, the voter. What a joke! We all have to make do but not them!
They saved the planet by putting a 25 cent surcharge(this not a tax, mind you) on grocery bags, paper or plastic.
lmao
I’m sooooooo glad I left that craphole 27 years ago.
Personally, I’d like a volunteer legislature that meets for 3 months every other year (with per diem for the days they are in session). Each would get one paid assistant. Other staff would be paid out of their pocket.
