I wonder if his replacement can be delayed for 3 1/2 years until Obama is voted out of office (or he so ticks off the American people they charge the whitehouse with pitchforks and torches).

Well, at least Scalia, Thomas, Roberts, and Alito will still be around. Kennedy will still be the swing vote.

But Stevens, Ginsburg and now Souter will likely be replaced by Obama, giving him a major part to play in shaping the court for a couple of decades.

“Heah come da judge, heah come da judge!”

Obama will get his moonbat liberal Justice. Of that, I have no doubt. We all knew this was coming.

No loss for our side in the sense that Souter was as liberal as Ginsburg. His first two years were moderate, but after that he followed his predecessor Brennan. A loss in the sense that this spot will go to a young lib.

This is huge. It’s not surprising, as Souter has shown signs of burnout for years. But for conservatives, it couldn’t come at a worse time, as Republicans only have 40 in the Senate.

Look for the ‘Rats to start pushing to get Al Franken seated.

Won’t be missed.

I was about to say, “Hard to imagine who O could appoint who would be worse than Souter or Ginsburg...” but then better sense came over me. Bernardine Dohrn comes to mind, or half Obama’s loony cabinet.

Man, are YOU dreamin’, LOL!

But, we MAY stand a chance...those that VOTED this POS into office will be too busy watching ‘American Idol’ to thwart the ‘torches and pitchforks’ plan. ;)

I didn’t see this one coming. I heard he had to be talked off the ledge from quiting after the Bush v. Gore case.
GHWB put this mistake on the court and we have been suffering for it ever since.

Now Souter, next Stevens, then Ginsburg. We’re screwed. Look for Obama to try & pull an FDR and try make the court a gang of 11 or 13.

Thanks Arlen!

Not too young, I hope.

Souter was obviously waiting for a dem president.

I wouldn’t count on the dems needing 60. Remember Ginsburg’s confirmation?

Start thinking to yourself what is the tripwire?... when the Constitution is so irrelevant to so many what is your response. Will it be on your feet or on your knees?
