A Month in the Life of George W Bush (news and photos): May 2009
www.georgewbush-whitehouse.archives.gov/news/releases/ ^ | 1st May 2009 | Snugs

All of April and the start of May 2009 find us still being bombarded by the media hyping up the first 100 days of President Obama with no sign of it dying down. Following the introduction to the monthly thread I will post some photos to remind us of the first few days of the first May of the George W Bush Presidency - those were the days.

The quote I have chosen for this month are remarks made during Commander-In-Chief Trophy Event at the South Portico on May 4, 2001.

Tomorrow I will post some more photos from May 2001 I am sure we will see the contrast what we see and hear from the first few months of the Bush Presidency to the Obama Presidency will make us realise even more so how much more respect and love GWB had for the office and the country and more importantly the individual citizens rather than just special interest groups as the current President does not even bother to try to hide.

Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island

As much as he pissed me off, I miss the hell out of him.

As for Laura, what a gal.

I thought White House protection was up to the Marines and the Secret Service. How can he not have military protection there? Would you point me to an article about this?

Good night, Snugs, and thank you so much for this thread. I sure do miss the grown ups too. Lovely picture of Mr. and Mrs. Cheney.

Gosh, I nearly forgot about that post. I was referring to
invited military guests, not his protection. I would assume
that he still follows protocol...though nothing would surprise me!

I haven’t seen a story online yet today as to whether he honored the fallen anywhere. Did he? I sure hope so!

Of course, I have been at work most of the day. :)

Beautiful work, snugs. Thank you so much
for the wonderful memories of a leader and
President who reveres and loves this country
and honor her military .. from the deepest
part of his heart.

How long will it be before we’re so blessed
again ?

He laid the wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers today. Seemed like a farce to me. I had read here on FR that he did away with “Hail to the Chief” when he entered a room at the White House during a special event. Then, there was the proclamation instead of the breakfast for National Day of Prayer, and he met privately with Rolling Thunder instead of the way President Bush greeted them. Those are just a few of the protocols that I remember that he has abandoned.

What a shame that nice pictures
of President Bush, who kept us
safe for nearly 8 years, against
all odds, provokes negativity.

FYI: BDSers are not allowed on
this thread.

I also read on another thread that he mistook Memorial Day
for Veteran’s Day.

What an embarrassment. But will the MSM call him on his faux-pas
as they did GW’s?? Of course not! He can do no wrong in
their eyes!

Thank you so much, snugs. I have avoided television all day today, so I would not have to see the pretender at Arlington Cemetery.

I just heard on the radio that he played golf this afternoon, instead of doing something about North Korea, the UN, our honored wounded, etc etc etc.

$$$$

He did NOT have a normal American patriotic upbringing. Have you ever noticed how he scowls during the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance?
