If the most read news sources all go to subscription even at a $2-4 per month, it might make them financially viable.

I would pay that much to read USA today online if I got the entire paper.

Ain't going to work. In no way can The Sun, The Mirror, The Times, The New York Post, The Guardian, The New York Times.....and thousands of others....all survive on a subscription model for the exact same product.

Plus there will always be somebody willing to put things on the net for free. All it takes is ONE free news website to destroy all subscription based sites.

They will also discover that a liberal clientele is not going to pay for news the same way a bunch of relatively conservative businessmen are willing to pay for the Wall Street Journal.
