Appleas and organges. Don’t blow it back at me because I don’t believe in breaking the law on a college campus for any reason.

There are rules on campus about individuals not being allowed to demonstrate. We break the rules and then the left breaks them and we can say NOTHING!

I would never criticize demonstrating off campus but the minute you go on campus and you are not part of a campus group you are out of line.

Funny, how the Common Sense Conservatives like me believe in the Rule of Law for all not for one particular group and that is where the actions of a few to break the law and get arrested taint the rest of us.

Conservatives have no more right to break the laws on the Notre Dame campus then the liberals. It is their campus not ours and they set the rules.

Here is the problem with your argument. For 40 years the Left has been breaking rules. We cried foul. What became of it? They won. They now control the educational system K through PhD. They control the media. They have a strong almost unstoppable majority in the elected government. Gay marriage is sweeping across the country. Socialism is preferred by over 50% of Americans and we have had 35 years of legal child murder. Political correctness overrides common sense in every aspect of our society. We cried foul about their tactics all along the way. We stuck to our moral high ground of peaceful protest, and informed debate. We followed all the "rules" and look where it got us.
When we had actual power we did not crack down on illegal alien voting, Acorn fraud, campaign finance fraud. We did not fill our State Department with free market, pro-American thinkers. We did not fill our Justice Department with advocates for Life and the rule of law. We allowed the left to take over many of our court systems and yet we still expect "justice" from the courts. They played to win. And did. If conservatives ever want to have any kind of power in America again they will stop playing by rules set by the other side. And the old rules which were honorable and just cannot stand if our opponents do not respect them. We were able to fight the WOT and obey most of the Rules of War even though our opponents didn't because we had such a huge advantage in arms and personnel. We do not have a huge advantage over the Left. In fact we are now behind. We do not have the luxury to allow the Left to use tactics that work (and they do work) and forgo them ourselves. If we do, we will be increasingly alone on our "high ground."

Sometimes you get more attention for your cause by civil disobedience. Peaceful civil disobedience. It can be debated, I’m sure, but I wonder if these threads would even be up here for umpteen hundred thousand people to see if Terry and Keyes had not defied instructions to stay off the grass.

In the 1950's the laws on many college campuses made it a crime for black people to register for class. To our shame many conservatives did not take part in the civil rights movement to end this evil. In the 1930's in Germany the law required citizens to inform the police if they knew of a Jew who wasn't in a concentration camp. Would you have gone along with this evil, or are their higher goals than obeying the law?
