Senate Intelligence Committee Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein, a Democrat, backed Pelosi.
“I think it’s a tempest in a teapot really to say: Well, Speaker Pelosi should have known all of this, she should have stopped this, she should have done this or done that,” she said.
“I don’t want to make an apology for anybody, but in 2002, it wasn’t 2006, 07, 08 or 09. It was right after 9/11, and there were in fact discussions about a second wave of attacks.”

3) Dems have covered their complicity and ignorance regarding the war on terror since before 911, and have done so primarily by attacking Republicans and using them as scapegoats…all the while they were doing the exact same things, supporting the same measures behind closed doors, funding CIA prison programs in Intelligence Appropriations bills, and then pretending to be on some moral high ground.
They tried to distract from their own incompetence again by releasing the “torture memos” to shift discussion away from insane levels of spending with no results (even worse results). They miscalculated. They forgot that they have unchecked power, and thus unchecked accountability.
Now they’re trying to run away from the topic lest it get more press that they knew about “torture” and railed against it. Worse yet, if the press starts to look at who knew what/when…people might see that yeah, Democrats KNEW about pre-war intel on Iraq, and it wasn’t a case of Bushliedpeopledied (the timeline is 100% clear on this as are the bi-partisan investigations and reports). People might actually realize that Sen Rockefeller misled about a lack of WMD threat because he KNEW what was found. Sen Levin misled about regime ties to Al Queda because he’d been briefed too. All these briefings took place around the same time the torture briefings did. Dems want to back outta that research alley FAST.
The problem is…their base won’t let em.

Republicans can’t “demand” to investigate Pelosi, so why is this story about her getting coverage? It has to be because the White House wants it to. -Rush
It appears there are more democrat hands in the pie than Bush officials.
Steny Hoyer is about the only Dem right now with a smile on his face.
He’s got a good chance at that gavel, and a lot of support from his party to take it.

SURPRISE Pelosi has claimed a different recollection of the briefing. “Trying to understand what she was told is almost impossible, her story changes almost every day,” said one Repub legislator.
DRIP DRIP DRIP Pelosi's gone from saying (1) she was never briefed about waterboarding, to saying (2) she was briefed about it’s possible use as a future technique, to saying now, (3) she knew it was happening but chose not to protest....
So Nancy, when you and the stupid Dems gonna start the lawsuits? We all can't wait to hear the testimony.
Maybe we oughta waterboard Pelosi to get the truth out of her? Watta figging liar......lying and lying, figuring national security briefings could not be released.
Thank God the rug was pulled out from under her lying carcass. I would imagine that's also why Obama reluctantly released pics from the flyover stunt AFTER the WH coverup (when he asserted he would not).

Pelosi Question: When is the Washington Post doing on investigating what Pelosi knew about waterboarding and when? She seems to say one thing and her aides and CIA seem to say another. Sounds fishy one way or another. I would just like to know what the answer is. Who is right?
Lois Romano: I dont know who's right- but I'm sure various news organizationns are looking into what she knew and when she knew it.

Pelosi?: Why is Pelosi so much more guilty for knowing about torture than the Bush Administration is about administering it?
Lois Romano: Its not guilt or innocence. Its accountability. If she opposed it, and she knew about it, one could ask why congress did nothing to try and thwart it. Even if it was a classified briefing, congress could have help up funding. Thats where its power is.

Pelosi: Forgive me for being obtuse, but I can't seem to understand how the alleged knowledge Pelosi may have had regarding waterboarding lets any Republicans off the hook.
Seriously, conservatives have now adopted the "strategy of the switch." What better way to shift focus from torture being approved by President Bush than by claiming somehow Pelosi knew too, as if she had any say in the matter.
Really, is this what the Republican party has been reduced to?
Lois Romano: It doesn't let anyone "off the hook." But, the question being asked is, if Pelosi knew and opposed the t6actic, why didn't she try to stop it. While she did not have line authority to stop it, she did have some influence over the budgetary process that funds it.
