Blue collar U.S. males lose more ground

DALLAS, May 19 (Reuters) - Rodney Ringler is an unemployed blue collar male without a college degree. He's hardly alone. Men like him have been the main victims of the current recession in the United States.

"I haven't worked since December of 2007, around the time this recession started," Ringler, a 49-year-old computer technician, said as he walked his dog in a Dallas suburb.

He sees little light at the end of the tunnel.

"I've been looking to get into law enforcement because it's a growth area," he said, but had no immediate prospects.

One statistic that stands out in America's recession-stung economy is the unemployment rate for adult men: in April for the second month in a row it surged ahead of the national average to 9.4 percent versus 8.9 percent for all workers. The jobless rate for adult women was 7.1 percent.

The reasons are clear: male-heavy sectors such as construction and manufacturing have been hard hit. But the implications may be dire for the broader economy and hamper the recovery as families that once had male breadwinners struggle.

My Husband says, “You are a very lucky man!” LOL!

I don’t know jack about computers. I don’t know jack about my car. I don’t know jack about plumbing or heating or air conditioning or how our riding lawn mower works...but there’s always someone handy that does! ;)

However...Husband couldn’t balance our budget, balance his checkbook or find foodstuffs in an overflowing refrigerator or pantry to save his life!

That’s where MY skills come in handy. ;)

And that ‘diapering babies’ and ‘holding anyone’s head over the toilet and not getting pukey myself’-thing has earned me TONS of Brownie Points over the years... ;)

Dunno, her name reminds of "Happily Ever After"...

Do what you can with it.

Cheers!

Just curious:

1) What attracted you to one another initially?

2) How did you convince her to reach first base with a man?

3) Did she persuade any of her friends?

Cheers!

She was hetro, NOW used to not be lesbian, I hired her for my sales crew, she was brilliant and could read Greek and Latin, I was just out of the army, her (young) boss and only wanted to sell, drink and party.

I don’t remember talking to her about feminism but when I asked her why she quit she said that she had only had about a half dozen staid, boring boyfriends (probably well bred) and that she didn’t know that men were so much fun, etc.

She was quite a gal and if you haven’t had sex in a Toyota Corolla going from Arlington to Dallas after a succesful sales night, without headlights (alternator out) drinking beer, with two other girls and a guy in the back seat, and you driving with her sitting on your lap, then you may not know how to fix feminists.
