Black clergy opposing gay marriage resent civil rights comparision

Black clergy have long opposed the march toward legal same-sex marriages. Now, they’re also challenging the growing efforts of gay-marriage supporters to frame the issue as a civil rights cause.

The Rev. William Gillison, pastor of Mount Olive Baptist Church, a large African-American congregation on East Delevan Avenue, said he is insulted by the comparison.

“We know what we have gone through as an ethnic group. We feel the terminology, the definition itself, has really been hijacked,” he said. “Unfortunately, it’s just another ploy to garner more support from people who may not understand what the civil rights struggle was all about.”

This is good news. Civil rights groups, homosexual advocates, women’s lib, and several other splinter groups have been used to destroy this nation. Each group helps the others attain their goals. They will not be nearly as potent if there is war between them. :0)

The libs and govt have been trying to shove the homosexual agenda for years.
If you do not believe me then listen to N.P.R. which is govt financed and about every 7th story is supporting the homosexual agenda.

Govt can do whatever they care to and I will NEVER think homos are anything but pathetic, sick freaks.

When I oppose gay marriage or Obama and his standing on issues I am accused of being a bigot. I really resent that. I know it is a tactic the gay agenda uses to bring support to their cause but I refuse to be silenced. Slavery was and is a moral issue. No one should be a slave to anyone. Gay-marriage is a moral issue also. But an issue that has the concerns of building up a person, family, and keeping society intact. Gay marriage does not do that.
Maine is going down a slippery slope. Now there is a case in Auburn, Maine where a transgender wanted to use a bathroom facility of his choice. The woman in the restroom got upset. The management at the Denny’s resturant told the transgender (the male in transition to female) said you cannot use the female facility. He (transgender) is sueing Denny’s. A Maine panel says he has a right to sue. So that is where we are in this state. Just a glimpse of confusion and lawsuits that will come out of this. It’s isn’t just about equal rights for same sex couples it’s alot more than that.
Will pedophiles use this situation to stalk bathrooms? Will rapists use this situation to stalk bathrooms and certain areas in public? This is only the beginning.

...When I oppose gay marriage or Obama and his standing on issues I am accused of being a bigot. I really resent that. I know it is a tactic the gay agenda uses to bring support to their cause but I refuse to be silenced. Slavery...

I AGREE with everything you are saying, just one point. I HATE the work gay... It is like suggar coating a piece of sh**.

Call it what it is "homosexual-marriage." It's not even insulting, it's just what it is. Now as to the word "marriage" I also have a problem with that but I have come up with the adequate word but NOT marriage.

People, even Republicans can be so stupid not see what this "issue" really means in thw war on values...It simply opens the gate to all kind of degenerate acts. Fags are degenerates... But not stupid. They know once this is officially sanctioned by our laws, the rest will come easier.

BESTIALIY... Yes the next frontier!....

Don't be surprised if some degenerate wants to marry a dog or donkey or whatever, or how about a "trisome?" Fag1, Fag2 and their dog...:) I am not trying to be funny... I believe we are going down this road. Once the CANCER sets in... It will keep growing... and that is why I am so angry among other things, with the CC for not doing ANYTHING ABOUT IT. And when I say "anything," I mean, the CC goes through de motions... but I fail to see them defending our values with REAL conviction. The CC is a huge institution... a country for God's sake!... I would like to see the Pope himself being more active in this war... They should be on the 6 o'clock news at least once a week counteracting the army of the left which is a powerful force the CNNs, NBCs, Hollywood, ACLU, the education bureacracy... The universiy establisments...even "Catholic" Institutions like university of Notre Dame! lean toward the left more and more....BUT ALL I HEAR IS SILENCE.

That is why sometimes I wonder if the CC is not really "winking" at the homosexual agenda. They are like politicians... They want to fool us that they are defending our culture, but when you look at what they ACTUALLY DO, it looks more like the are "looking the other way." And I don't even want to touch the sexual abuses of the church and how they failed to protect children, etc etc.

God is in control. Like the Bible says, the final days will be like the days of Noah, when there is wickedness and God has been blasphemed and turned on.

Why be against the first Civil Rights movement? Without them I probably wouldn’t be here and most black people wouldn’t have the right to vote/eat in the same places/etc.

The “civil rights” movement was and is controlled by the Communist Party. It is used to sow discord among the citizens of the United States of America. The Reds don't give a hoot about you or me. They have and are using you. You probably would be surprised to find how many civil rights leaders were communist.
Do a little research and don't drink the kool aid.

Well there should have been discord among the citizens since all were not treated equally. Would you be in favor of things still being colored only and whites only?
Communist or not, what they did in trying to get equal rights for all races was a good thing for the entire country.

Communist don’t give a damn about the “colored only”. They will use race relations as a tool for the destruction of this country. The problem is a lot of people want and expect “more than equal” rights. That is not a good thing for any country.

I have worked with Blacks all my life. I see no reason for a “colored only and white only” system. Are all blacks against segregation? :0)

I understand what you’re saying...I wish the people who helped end separate race things weren’t communists. but in reality, there was no one else out there really fighting against that. but maybe there were and I’m unaware of it, I wasn’t alive back then.

Race relations are a problem. The dung bug communist keep stirring up trouble. Things would be a lot better if people just tried to get along. A lot of Black leaders are making a lot of money spewing the Hate Whitey crap. They don’t want good race relations because they would lose their cash cow.

I have worked with several black men who are a lot better than I am. I admire and trust them very much. I fear for their safety if the ship ever hits the sand. ;0(

Look back at 1955 America. It’s really stretching things to suggest rich, successful white actor Rock Hudson was every bit as oppressed as Rosa Parks, the black woman whose arrest started the Montgomery bus boycott. Sadly, that’s what the secular left has brainwashed a whole generation with no sense of historical perspective into believing.

I wonder what do black people in Africa think when homosexuals say being black is the same thing as being homosexual? Somehow, I doubt this white American leftist argument goes over real well in Nigeria or Uganda.
