Obama goes first in a few minutes. He's speaking at the rotunda of the National Archives (you think we could get Nicholas Cage on that birth certificate thingey?) on his Gitmo policy and other man-caused calamities.

Vice President Cheney gets the rebuttal time. He's speaking at the American Enterprise Institute around 10:45 a.m. EDT.

Luckily for Obama, he had known about Cheney’s national security speech for more than a week.

That knowledge gave Obama lots of time to prepare his own (overly long) speech.

Too bad no one on his staff used any of that time to proofread Obama’s speech to make sure he would get Gates’ first name right.

Let’s hope he uses his beloved telepromter sometime very soon out in a pouring rain storm...he’ll get to experience a little taste of “waterboarding” for sure then!

HolyO is too chicken to agree to an honest debate with Dick Cheney—he’ll claim he doesn’t want to overstress the previous VP’s heart with ‘facts’ concerning ‘the mess I inherited from the prior administration’ and ‘the buck stops with me, I don’t need to debate an old has-been’...bwahahahahaha!!

Our government prevented attacks and saved lives through the Terrorist Surveillance Program, which let us intercept calls and track contacts between al-Qaeda operatives and persons inside the United States. The program was top secret, and for good reason, until the editors of the New York Times got it and put it on the front page. After 9/11, the Times had spent months publishing the pictures and the stories of everyone killed by al-Qaeda on 9/11. Now here was that same newspaper publishing secrets in a way that could only help al-Qaeda. It impressed the Pulitzer committee, but it damn sure didn’t serve the interests of our country, or the safety of our people.
