I agree..I was watching it for a while and the death threats/death wishes were spewing a mile a minute..

What I also noticed was that NO ONE disputed FACTS..just generalizations etc..

I loved this part of Cheney's speech.

You can sense the problem in the emergence of euphemisms that strive to put an imaginary distance between the American people and the terrorist enemy. Apparently using the term “war” where terrorists are concerned is starting to feel a bit dated. So henceforth we’re advised by the administration to think of the fight against terrorists as, quote, “Overseas contingency operations.” In the event of another terrorist attack on America, the Homeland Security Department assures us it will be ready for this, quote, “man-made disaster” – never mind that the whole Department was created for the purpose of protecting Americans from terrorist attack.

And when you hear that there are no more, quote, “enemy combatants,” as there were back in the days of that scary war on terror, at first that sounds like progress. The only problem is that the phrase is gone, but the same assortment of killers and would-be mass murderers are still there. And finding some less judgmental or more pleasant-sounding name for terrorists doesn’t change what they are – or what they would do if we let them loose.

In your face Obama, Osama or whatever your name is.

No, he doesn't. He has to carefully consider what is best for our country and our national security. In his specific case, the best interests of our country are served by him laying low.

Why? Does that apply to Cheney as well? If not, what's the difference?

This attacking and blaming is making Obama look like the lightweight that he is. Only the immature feel the need respond to every criticism directed at them. Democrats are hoping and praying that Pres. Bush responds so that they can make him the center of attention instead of Obama.

So they make Cheney the center of attention? Look, this is not about partisan politics and political calculation, it is about national security. Bush's national security policies are being attacked by Obama and being changed. Why can't he defend them? By not doing so, he is giving credence to those attacks. Thank God we have Cheney who has spine instead of former President Sad Sack who allows people to kick him around.

He gets a big reaction..that's why FOX keeps him...

(Beckel)

Exactly.

What better way to show good versus evil. Truth versus lies. VP Cheney has no reason to lie,the Bush Adm. kept our country safe from another terrorist attack from 911 until their departure on 20 January ,2009.

That is the truth and no one better to explain that truth than VP Cheney.

May God bless him with good health for a long, long time.

He thinks of the nation’s safety first thing in the morning and last thing at night? Why can’t I believe that? My thinking is that he thinks of his power and what he can do with it, firs and last.

Actually. I think he honestly believes that his being in power, by itself, is the only thing that can keep the country safe. It's a kind of magic, I guess.

Why? Does that apply to Cheney as well? If not, what's the difference?

The difference is that if Bush begins debating with Obama, the issue becomes Bush, rather than the issues that actually matter.

Note that, just by being silent, Bush has been forcefully vindicated by Obama himself on several issues -- be it course reversals, or by Obama's approach being demonstrably stupid.

So they make Cheney the center of attention?

When Cheney speaks, the issues themselves tend to take center stage.

0bama bound by law, bound by the Constitution...

In this case, Obama is saying EXACTLY what he means... he is not saying he is bound TO the constitution, to uphold is principles and defend it, but that he feels bound BY it, as it somehow limits or restricts what he wishes to do...

even small words have extreme importance...

That's a kind euphemism for "malignant narcissism"....

Oooooh, he said, “It’s hard to imagine a worse *precedent*!”

Just a coincidence that he used a word that sounds so much like "president"? You decide.

I changed the two mentions of Cheney with obama.

In a thread there entitled:
Did Anybody Get The Impression That After Obama Finished His Speech He Was Going.......
to go somewhere and blow his brains out?

He had such a weak ending to this speech. Sounded like a deflating balloon and the end was the last gasp of air.

All he was doing was trying to justify 8 years of breaking the laws and shredding the Constitution.

This guy is pure and unadulterated ‘evil’.

And did you get the comment - that he said the President authorized the ‘torture’. (paraphrasing) I think he was trying to shift some the blame completely to Bush.

Despicable!!!!!!!!!

Ohhhh........
Your keyboard to God’s ears, honey..............

I’d gladly loan him a gun, if I knew I’d get it back....
Wait, he’s the great hunter - he must have a few guns at home.

I don’t own a gun...
...but if I thought Obama was gonna do that? I would go out and buy the lying SOB the biggest, nastiest gun I could find!

From all the wheezing and coughing he was doing,
I think the congestive heart failure is going to take care of it sooner rather that later. He appears short of breath, too. All symptoms of CHF.
