I was in Nashville yesterday. What a depressing dump of a city (downtown and immediate environs). Nothing but Obama stickers and lowlifes who looked at me funny because I speak English. Brought home to me that a huge chunk of the country hardly has the brains to string a cohesive, thoughtful sentence together, much less to apply thoughtfulness and logic to voting intelligently for a leader. Most of them probably don’t even know who Dick Cheney IS.

Your opinion must be a result of your envy as Nashville is the fasted growing part of the state. It's beauty, low taxes and terrific suburbs have lured Dell, Nissan, Saturn, HCA and other large corporations here. I relocated here from the upper midwest which is closer to what you described. Nashville is one of top choices for businesses wanting to relocate. While the inner most part of the city may be liberal, the surrounding areas are very conservative. Obama didn't even have a chance here. Gore lost here and it is his home state. The Nashville area is one of the most beautiful places in America. Also, the country music scene here is fantastic. This city has A LOT going for it. East Tennessee does have the Smokey Mountains, I'll grant you that. It is beautiful out east. But you can't lure businesses out there. There are better colleges in middle Tennesee (Vanderbilt, Belmont, etc.) UT is a dump.
