U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison said Tuesday she finds "troubling" statements she says Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor has made in the past 11 years that federal judges are able to "change policy."
Hutchison, in Lubbock to speak on transportation issues, was one of 29 senators - all Republicans - who in 1998 voted against confirming Sotomayor to be a judge on the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan. Sotomayor eventually was confirmed.
Hutchison said her vote against Sotomayor then was about Sotomayor's "judicial activism" as a district court judge.
But she said she will look "afresh" at Sotomayor's full record and give her a "fair hearing."
"I will listen to the full content of her record, but I will not vote for anyone that I believe has a record in the last 11 years of judicial activism," Hutchison said.

Such as? I am not doubting, I just want to know how bad they are.
Hutchison is such a phony. If she weren’t running for governor, she would be saying how “historic” the pick was.
Oy. Just plain oy.
Ya think?
I hate rinos.
