ABCs Good Morning America program on Wednesday led their 7 am Eastern hour with three positive reports about Judge Sonia Sotomayor, highlighting her judicial background and personal story.
Anchor Diane Sawyer began the program with a promo of this coverage: The battle begins: How will President Obamas Latina powerhouse handle the opposition?...And we also go home to bring you personal details about the girl from the housing projects, nominated for the Supreme Court.
Correspondent Claire Shipman went so far as to play up trivial details from the nominees personal life: Shes also an avid Yankees fan, a mean guacamole maker, and a fierce biker. None of the coverage explained how making a killer chip dip adds to her qualifications for the Supreme Court.
After Sawyers initial promo, fellow anchor Chris Cuomo immediately chimed in and highlighted the presence of Sotomayors mother at the presidents press conference: Now, I know that the selection of a nominee to the Court is supposed to be about the law and philosophy, but what a human moment to see Sonia Sotomayor talking about her mother. It was really a great human moment yesterday. Theres her mom, literally brought to tears by such a special occasion.

Sickening.
Don’t suppose they’ll sent two hundred reporters to check out her background like that did to Palin?
Nah...didn’t think so.
Is Guacamole code for racists, because if it is, the article’s spot on.
Substitute Clarance Thomas’ name and send it back to them
If they get a queasy feeling in their stomach that’s called HYPOCRACY
The Obama State Media is like the old Soviet media
Did ABC treat Sarah Palin this way? Just wonderin’.
Let’s just see how long (if ever) it takes for Sotomayor to be referred to as “controversial”.
Don’t hold your breath. It’ll happen about the same time you read about a “moderate” Democrat.
She touched him!!! OMG!!!
Who knew one’s guacamole skills were a qualification for the U.S. Supreme Court? What organizational idiocy.
Then why is she so fat?
Can’t remember the last time I watched ABC, NBC, and CBS.
Better yet, unless NASCAR comes on one of those three, I can’t remember the last time I clicked to one of those channels...
As opposed to the RESEARCH the media did on Republican nominees anytime they went to their fax machine for the latest dnc talking points memo.
Would it hurt them to do just a LITTLE digging instead of getting behind her defense before they've even read up on this activist clown who's been overruled by the Supreme Court repeatedly?
Read my tagline.

It’s the guac.
Beer gut.
Or is that not what was meant?
Senator Biden was the first questioner. Instead of the softball questions hed promised to ask, he threw a beanball straight at my head, quoting from a speech Id given four years earlier at the Pacific Legal Foundation and challenging me to defend what Id said. I find attractive the arguments of scholars such as Stephen Macedo, who defend an activist Supreme Court that would strike down laws restricting property rights. That caught me off guard, and I had no recollection of making so atypical a statement, which shook me up even more. Now, it would seem to me what you were talking about, Senator Biden went on to say, is you find it attractive the fact that they are activists and they would like to strike down existing laws that impact on restricting the use of property rights, because you know, that is what they write about.pp 235-236 of "My Grandfather's Son" by Clarence ThomasSince I didnt remember making the statement in the first place, I didnt know how to respond to it. All I could say in reply was that it has been some time since I have read Professor Macedo But I dont believe that in my writings I have indicated that we should have an activist Supreme Court. It was, I knew, a weak answer. Fortunately, though, the young lawyers who had helped prepare me for the hearing had loaded all of my speeches into a computer and at the first break in the proceedings they looked this one up. The senator, they found, had wrenched my words out of context. I looked at the text and saw that the passage hed read out loud had been immediately followed by two other sentences: But the libertarian argument overlooks the place of the Supreme Court in a scheme of separation of powers. One does not strengthen self-government and the rule of law by having the non-democratic branch of the government make policy. The point Id been making was the opposite of the one that Senator Biden claimed I had made.
Well, it didn't say she was a good, or even proficient, biker - just that she was fierce. She probably scowls at the little kiddies as she runs them down on her bike...
I too am disgusted by all this fawning. You never heard this type of fawning over Scalia (makes great spaghetti sauce?) or Thomas (soul food?), only that they were - horror of horrors- CONSERVATIVE!!!!/s
Oh....so it’s now the PC thing to say ‘la-tee-na’? K.
