Hutchison cautions GOP: Take "a respectful tone" on Sotomayor

Kay Bailey Hutchison cautioned Sunday that Republicans "need to have a respectful tone" in tackling the nomination of Sonya Sotomayor. The senator was on CNN, where she was specifically asked about her upcoming race for governor in Texas, a state with a large and growing Hispanic population.

Said KBH: "We need to look at the record. And we need to have the responsibilities that have put on us buy the Constitution taken very seriously. And I think having a solid respectful tone, arguing the facts, not trying to label someone, is important. And going forward, I think that's what you will see from the senators who are involve in this process."

Sotomayor has come under harsh criticism by some Republicans for comments suggesting her life experience as Latina woman would allow her to make better decisions than a white man. King noted than on her own website, Hutchison says her experience as a working mother gives her "a unique insight" to make better public policy. The Republican rejected the comparison.

"It is very important in the Senate or the congress or for governors, anyone elcted and who is accountable to the people, should be a part of America and the American experience. Now that's also important for Supreme Court justices, but their role is very different."

I can remember the respect shown Clarence Thomas and Robert Bork.

The GOP leadership better climb in the Liberal gutter and fight them viciously; as viciously as they’ve treated us. Our troops don’t fight like wimps and these morons in DC shouldn’t either. The enemies of freedom are the enemies of freedom regardless of where they’re found.

One can ask tough pointed and appropriate questions while still being respectful and not engage in personal attacks on one’s character. This should be the way the republicans handle Sotomayor. In other words, let us not go the way of libtards. If libtards want to wallow in the filth in the gutter, let them. No reason to join them there if we don;t have to.

We shouldn’t respect racism, we should hold it in contempt.

Seems like all of the GOPers have made enough money and gotten their pensions and medical benefits. They don’t care anymore.

A “unique insight” doesn't mean “better”.

If Sotomayor had said her experience as a Latina (wise or otherwise) gave her a “unique insight” into the law, that would be one thing, and hard to argue against.

But she said she would (as a wise Latina) more often arrive at a BETTER decision, not that her decision would be informed by her unique insight, but that her decision would be BETTER.

Comprende senora?

Kay is a freaking RINO! Too many years drinking the kool-aid has ruined her. I wish her an overwhelming defeat next year.

We need to be respectful to the Marxists, lest we get the treatment they usually give to those who dissent. These politicians are actually AFRAID to fight with facts and with backbone!
