Dick Cheney is in favor of gay marriage. That tiny popping sound you hear in the distance is the exploding of heads on both the right and left wings.

subjecting his reason to his desire

That's YOUR take on it but I'm willing to bet if you were face to face with Cheney he'd unflinchingly present extremely good arguments for his position.

Oh, I’m sorry. It’s early and I drifted for a moment. God bless your brother-in-law and the trials that he has to bear. I can imagine that the lifestyle of the two sons that you mention weighs heavily on his heart. Perhaps, through God’s grace, they will eventually see the light and change their path.

Where did Cheney supposedly say this? I don’t want to click on LGF to find out.

Not, "God Family and Country" anymore.

Now it's God, GAY FAMILY, and whatever because I'm old.

Those of you that turn on Cheney over this kind of cheap article are falling for yet one more attempt of the libs to undermine us all.

Works like a charm doesn't it?

This has nothing to do with Gay marriage, the far lefties - socialists are using a tried and true way to discredit Mr. Cheney because he doesn't agree with "The One" on how to keep this country safe from terrorists.

Rahm must be ROTFLHAO.

Why? Just so his lesbo daughter can get ‘legally’ dildoed by her life-pal!?

Cheney again shows his intelligence and consistent conservative values in supporting federalism.

I don’t think he is quite the fiscal con that I’d like him to be (he clearly supported the Bush budgets and said that deficits don’t matter) but he views social issues like I do, in the true light of federalism.

I abhor same sex marriage, but leave this issue to the states. Dick Cheney agrees with me

I respect that about him. But he is putting his wish for a good relationship with his daughter ahead of what he knows better about. He is putting comfort and ease above morals. I can’t trust that.

Exactly. Ronald Reagan never got compromised by his idiot son; Dick should have said, "love my daughter, but detest her lifestyle."

“People ought to be free to enter into any kind of union they wish, any kind of arrangement they wish.” - Dick Cheney

____________________________________________________

While I greatly admire Cheney he is distorting the issue and missing the point in regards to this issue. This is not about denying people from making commitments to each other whether it be just two people or a group of people. No one is calling for prying into the personal lives of individuals on this basis.

This is an issue about what “We the People” have to accept or acknowledge in regards to what type of arrangement they may commit to between themselves. No one cares what they say and do in private as long as they do not try to force it on others.

Cheney also used the term “equal rights” in his answer which again even further distorts the real issue. Forcing people to accept homosexuality as being normal without having any say or representation is not an equal rights issue. The liberal fascists are trying to take away our right to representation on issues of sexuality and to dictate the issue to everyone including our children.

Cheney needs to be asked whether he believes that “We the People” are free to define sexuality through our right to representation or if he believes that businesses, schools, and individuals need to be forced to treat homosexuality as being equal to heterosexuality.

I respect him for not dodging this tough question. Unfortunately, he got the answer 100% wrong.

Agreed. He likes guns. That's good. He just doesn't know where to point them.

All this respect for Cheney crap reminds me of democrats in congress supporting the troops but bashing the war they fight.

Some blogger says Cheney approves same sex marriage when he clearly did not and has not.

It does give the left socialist a lift though.

Good for him.

Leaving people the hell alone to live their lives as individuals is a fine conservative principle, particularly as applied to the Federal government.

Encouraging monogamy is also a fine conservative principle which benefits society.

Gays are gay, we’re not going to change it, and it’s about time we left them alone.

"He objected to the Defense of Marriage Act on the grounds that it “federalizes” the issue, which is generally a sign of ambivalence - if not downright support - for homosexual marriage."

No. It comes from reading the Constitution and realizing it's not a Federal issue, and that the Constitution grants the central government no authority to meddle in such things.

no it IS a federal issue because of full faith and credit.

This is no different than the commerce clause issues.

The fact is the federalists won the argument against the anti-federalists looooong ago.

Marriage RECOGNITION is a federal issue and must be address. The mere law is not going to be enough becuase the 9th circus or some left wing judges will adopt the marriage based on sexual behavior public policy and force it on the country. (remember judge sotomayor said policy is set by the judiciary)

It is DEFINITLY a federal issue.

Who the h#ll was bothering gays. It is the fascist left-wing that wants to dictate to private owned businesses, schools, individuals, etc... that they have to treat homosexuality as equal to or better then heterosexuality under fear of penalty of law. The leftw-ing dosen’t even want us to be allowed to have a say on it but wants it dictated by the courts.

Cheney said people should have the “freedom” to enter into any kind of agreement they wish but would leave it to the states to ultimately decide how they handle it.

I don’t know how you can say Cheney doesn’t support gay marriage, all he said was he didn’t support a federal solution. It was right there bold as can be on the video.
