Very busy Monday (Political Animals and Arkansas Terrorist Attack)

The Political Animals Lunch was held at 11:30am at the Governor's Mansion. The debate for this event was between Arkansas Democrat Party Chairman Todd Turner and Republican Party Chairman Doyle Webb. The moderator was Bill Simmons. Bill Simmons asked a few questions then questions were asked by the audience. Unfortunately, most of the questioning by Bill Simmons's centered around a comment made by Doyle Webb about the sexual orientation of Kathy Webb. Turner and Simmons turned what could have been a great discussion about the differences between state parties, into an a continuous rant about how Republicans have no ideas and attack personally. Webb handled the situation well by explaining that Republicans are for lower taxes, less spending, and less government. Webb also reminded everybody that newspapers described Judge Kathy Webb the same way as he did. Both party chairs agreed that Senator Kim Hendren's "Jewish comment" made Arkansas look bad.

Many of the questions from the audience were rants about race. Professor Art English asked what was the difference between Conservative Democrats and Conservative Republicans. Turner claimed that Democrats have a "big tent", while Doyle stated that Conservative Republicans stick to their principles. Another question was by a guy sitting next to me who asked the chairs if judicial nominations should be based on color or by qualification. Turner stated that nominations should "reflect the U.S. in terms of background" which is a nice way of saying racial quotas. Webb stated that qualifications are more important, but then praised the nomination of Judge Sotomayor.

My question for both party chairs was the following, "Oklahoma had passed immigration reform legislation that removed many illegal aliens from their state. My question for both parties is what have you done and what will you do to force illegal aliens out of the state of Arkansas in the same way that Oklahoma removed illegal aliens. There was a long pause and a Turner dodged the question by stating that it was "a Federal issue on how to deal with people who want to work here". This same cowardly cope out would be used when Turner was asked about the state proposed anti-Card Check amendment. That amendment has been delayed by Liberal Attorney General Dustin McDaniel.

Doyle Webb stated that we will work with our elected officials on dealing with that issue. Although he did not give specific examples such as SB206 by Jim Holt, or the Republican's vote in stopping the in-state tuition bill SB799, Webb didn't pander to the pro-illegal crowd. Webb later stated with me that we wished he had given specific examples. Several members of Secure Arkansas attended the event.

Before the debate had started, a moment of silence was given for the shooting victims at the Army Recruiting Center. After the event, it was revealed that William Long had died from the attack. A terrorist attack from Islamofacism that had not occurred since 9/11 under the Bush Administration has occurred under Obama. Despite this terrorist attack, no statement has been made from the leader of the United States of America, nor the Head of the Department that is supposed to prevent these attacks, nor Little Rock's United States Representative Vic Snyder. Secure Arkansas is planning a huge rally to support our military. It will be held on Thursday, June 4th, at 4 p.m., in front of the Army-Navy Recruiting Station at Ashley Square, corner of Reservoir Road and Rodney Parham in Little Rock. This is an emergency rally to show respect for our troops and let them know we mourn the loss of soldier William Long and the wounding of soldier Quinton Ezeagwula.
