What's the big revelation here? Post-indeoendance India (c. 1947) turned, ultimately, to USSR for “assistance”. Cold war U.S.A. thereby “assisted” Pakistan to keep things fairly stable in that area. Lots and lots of water under the bridge since that time but, like I said, scarcely a revelation.

Well, the US bet on a “homogeneous” Islamic Pakistan, against diverse, “unstable” India, and ended up with what we have in the Subcontinent today...
